Check Engine. Hopefully Not Trans Goin Out. Need Help ASAP!!
Hey guys I have a 2002 Acura 3.2TL. It has about 110K on it. I was driving today doing about 40-45 mph and when i starting slowing down i realized the rpm's were spiking on me. when i finally stopped at the light and tried going again when it was green the car had issues with what it seemed like the gears catching. My check engine light came on and the D5 icon on the dash started blinking. Anyone got any ideas on what the issue might be? I live kind of far from a mechanic and I don't feel very comfortable at the moment driving the car.

the only kind of repair to it is a rebuild. That will run any where from 2k to 4500 depending on where you go. Try going to the dealer to see if they will cover it since you are so close.

yea i already tried that too. imma just have to scrap the car then i guess theres no point of putting that much money into it if its bound to happen again sooner or later.

Once the check engine lights come on then it's a matter of days it will 100% die!
Did u run the codes? It might be something else but very doubtful! I just got my tranny rebuilt for 3k and got 36k month warreny so I willride it till then and then sell it!
U can try flushing the ATF to get the tranny to last a little longer!

damn that fuckin sucks. Lotta money. You guys think its worth doing that US Fidelity Used Car Warranty? They quoted me $50 deductable. $139 Down payment and $110 per month no interest for 18 months. And they cover all lubricated engine parts, lubricated trans parts, and even electrical.

So did you check with the dealer to see if they would work any thing out with you to cover part or all of it?

did you speak with a service MANAGER? service writers aren't so useful in this situation, its the manager who gets on the phone with acura and tries to get some coverage....some business (even at lower acura reimbursement rates) is better than no business

My Check engine light came up and then the VSA light came up. I checked the code and it was something about Torque converter solenoid. The car shifts perfectly fine and down shifts w. no problem. This is the 2nd transmission on the car. The 1st owner had the 1st one replaced years ago. The car has 98k on the clock. The vehicle is no longer registered and I don't think the dealer can do it anything to help me. Any suggestions?
