CEL - Multiple Cylinder Misfire - Oil in Spark Plugs
#41
What thread, what car, who posted when ....... ?
OP has to wait on cousin to do the work (probably free help at home situation) they should have the other head off by now and be cking it out
Im betting its bad news everywhere, that thing was repeatedly overheated while an elderly gentleman and a few shops tried to work the problem out-
but by the time it was figured out- the damage was done
It arrived at its new home with bhg-loss of coolant and rusty res bottle
Then it was driven and driven and driven with temp redlines, probably coolant in oil = fries the bearings and can cause piston rings to score their cylinder walls- totallllly uncool!

he did mention cousin was pissy about him spending time on phone/cking info on azine, while the greasy work was being done
I have seen bad things done to engines over the decades- even remember a few~~
When the scenario is familiar...
especially on a recently sold car that comes with new and used cooling system parts!! and a new owner totally unfamiliar with the under-hood inspection and understanding of systems...not everyone is an old retired mechanic~

OP last posted pics of the `back from machine shop-refreshed heads`, just had to install and hope the cylinders were ok,,, after all the overheat issues

Sorry for the lack of a response. Since my cousin was doing the work for free, we were limited to both our schedules. It doesn't help that we were waiting for parts that didn't arrive with the gasket kit, parts that we decided to change out at the last minute, and there was a bearing that we lost (he blames me for throwing it out with one of the pulleys that go with the timing belt lol).
As in my last post, the problem related to the CEL was the ignition coils.
I got my car back a few days ago and I will delve deeper into what was done and how it runs in the "diagnosing cooling system"

Yeah, when you're tearing things apart....ya might as well do the job right !!!
Only thing is that the time and labor involved adds up. Sometimes it's easier to swap in another motor.
