I'm new but I need help. So a couple days ago my girlfriends car wouldnt get out of park, so I did some troubleshooting and the brake lights weren't working either. So with that I figured that it must be the stop light switch (brake light switch). Last night I replaced the stop light switch and following that the car wont start. The brake lights work now but when I try and start it, the car acts like its going to turn over but just wont start. All lights and accessories work and I had the battery tested and its fine. What could it be? Can anyone help me?

 

Did you accidentally unplug something else. When you try starting the car do you see the Green Immobilizer Key flashing on the dash?? Sounds like you have a immobilizer issue.

 

no, I dont think i accidentally unplugged anything. I'm not at the car right now so i cant check for the immobilizer light but what exactly does that do anyway?

 

What do you mean, "acts like its going to turn over..."? Does the starter ever engage? Any clicking sounds?

 

well, it doesnt click. but you know when you go to start the car and you turn the key and wait for the engine to start. it does everything up until it actually starts. i dont know how else to explain it, but i talked to a few people and they think its a fuse. i checked the fuses i thought it could be but i didnt see any that were blown. i rented an OBD-II sensor tonight and i'm going to try that out tomorrow morning. Please let me know if you guys have any ideas. I'm deploying on friday and i want to get the car working before i go. Its my girlfriends and i dont want to leave her with a broken car. Thanks

What about the immobilizer light question? What's the battery voltage?

 

Alright guys, i got up this morning and started taking a close look at all the fuses. All the fuses inside the car were good so i looked at the ones under the hood. The ACG fuse was blown. I replaced it and now its all good. Only question i have now is what does the ACG fuse do? Thanks
