Car won’t start battery dies suddenly

After stopping for gas I tried to restart my 2003 tl type s. When I turned the key everything went dead. It took a jump start and I had no problems for the next two days. Started fine. Then I had the same thing happen again after the car had been sitting for about four hours. Any help suggestions. Thanks

Hey zmac, without more info, it's hard to say. There are different ways of "not starting" there is hard crank (common with low battery voltage) there is a clicking (common with dead battery) no click at all (common with bad starter) and hard to start (cranks and cranks before starting).

I'd start with checking the battery terminals to make sure they aren't corroded and that they are tightly fastened to the battery posts.

Battery terminals clean and tight relatively new battery less than 2 yrs. The first time it happened I had power windows and radio working. When I turned the key everything just died. The same thing the second time.

If everything just died when you turned the key then the starting system drained the battery? have you had that checked? sometimes batteries can go bad in less than 2 years, which is awesome because that is usually just before the warranty expires :-)

just in case...a reminder: any local autoparts shop should be able check your battery, alternator or starter for free.
