Car will not start - electircal

Having electrical problems with a 2001 CL which should be the same as a TL. Car will crank, but will not start - battery is good. Also, nothing electrical will work - headlights, windows, seats, trunk release. Green key light is flashing. Car was being driven in parking lot and just quit. Any ideas on how to reset?

dealership may have to reset... green key light flashing has to do with the immobilizer. do you have metal key rings and such. i read in the owners manuals not to use metal key rings cant remember if it says how to reset... maybe disconnect the battery.

Tried disconnecting battery - no luck. I've spoken with the dealer and they seem to think it's not the immobilizer.

If nothing works its most likely not the immobilizer. That only tells the ecu to throw spark and fuel. Even with a bad immobilizer the lights radio windows will work. Im wondering if its not in the ignition itself? Or in one of the multiplexes?

Try another key.

Was there a recall on the ignition switch for the 2001 CL? There was a recall for my 1999 TL. (Register your car on Owner Link to find out.)

How would you check the ignition or the multiplexes? I don't think it's in the ignition since not even the lights will work.

You can get really odd behavior with a failing ignition switch. Before I replaced my ignition switch, the engine would at times turn over but not start. other times it would stall at low RPMs.

And the dash lights wouldn't aways turn on when the key was rotated to the detent postion before the starting position.

As far as testing the ignition switch, I think there's a procedure listed in the Helm factory service manual. You can find a replacement ignition switch for about $50.

I had looked at the fuses and none were blown. However, I took voltage readings today. The headlight fuse only measured about 5 volts. Other fuses measured normal, 13 volts, or nothing. I then checked the voltage on the fuse panel on the drivers side and found that none of the fuses had voltage on them. Also read the diagnostic code. It read P1656. The book says that a dealer specific code and didn't have anything on it.
