Car shakes and dies out

2000TL 52k Mileage, hardly driven last two years, now mine, everyday driver

So as many of you guys already know, My car is having some problems. When i turn on my car sometimes it makes a longer sound in my ignition. Then the car starts to shake and as i gear it in drive it dies out, leaving the radio on but the engine off. Sometimes it takes up to 10 times to start up the car. When i take off it goes really slow and jerks a little. A few months ago my car was shaking on the road and my "check engine" light turned on. I took it to the auto repair shop and the guy told me that my one of my coils are broken and to (ride it out) and come back if it keeps happening. Could this be the solution to my problems? replacing the coils? are there any other possibilities of why my car is acting this way? I dont want to mod it until the engine work is fully completed and my car is back to new and normal THANKS GUYS!

Yeah, take it back to the repair shop and have them check the codes.
Chances are that ya may have a bad coil or two. Start with new "NGK" plugs.

a bad coil does not cure itself
replace with new from dealer or aftermarket- about 50 bucks
must reset ecu after install---pull and insert the clock fuse on passenger end of dash

multi coil misfire codes are false,,locate the one needed and install all new ngk plugs (8 bucks each)
a can of seafoam in half a tank done twice is awesome cleaning

Air in the cooling system will cause stalling when warm. If you had cooling system service, or the coolant level became too low, then air in the system will collect at the temp sensor and cause the ECU to have a fit.

Happened to me when I replaced the radiator. Impossible to diagnose until I searched and found ericthecarguy on youtube.

Along with what the others have suggested pull the plastic cover off the intake manifold and check for any broken, cracked or disconnected vacuum lines. You can also run Sea Foam through the intake manifold as well (read the bottle).
