Car is not starting...

When turning the key, I just hear a single click. All the gauges and lights come on. I did a search and some people were suggesting a new battery and/or possible safety switch issue. I can shift it out of neutral so it's not the safety switch. I replaced the battery this morning and that solved nothing, a waste of $90 IMO. This problem came out of nowhere, it was working fine all day yesterday then BAM, last night I was attempting to go out and it would not start. What could it be?

We tested out the starter and relay and figured the relay was bad. Took it out (big bolts were a pain in the ass!) and took it to Autozone. They tested it and although the tester said it was good, it spun very slow. Decided to go ahead and by a reman'd starter for $120, installed it, and now my car is starting again

Where did you buy your battery from? Autozone battery prices are going way up. I remember they used to be ~$50.

At that price, I think it's better to just by the OEM battery, as it has a longer warranty.

unless thats a 100% replacement warranty- the OE batteries dont have much of a lifespan- and pro rated warranty terms= you may as well buy a different brand
and save the differance
Most batts are made from similar supplier materials-- somewhere in China..only so many plates can be shoved in a container size,,
is there really a huge differance in brands--24 vs 36 month batt or longer..??

My Acura dealer gives a ~4 year full year warranty/~10 year prorated.

Batteries in AZ don't last more than 2 years, so replacement batteries are basically free for me. Thus, I think I'll switch to the dealership battery, as my Duralasts have only been lasting about a year.

That's a good deal. How much is the batt. from the dealer?

~$80

If they install it, they give you a warranty for 10 years or XXX amount of mileage. Whichever comes first.

If you install it, they give you a warranty for 10 years period. No mileage limit.

It's either 3 or 4 years full, and then up to 10 years prorated. The depreciation over 6 or 7 years is pretty slow, so the prorated price will be pretty good.
