I have a 2002 type s d5 I need to know how I can check if the transmission has already been replaced/updated.

It has 140k and seems to be fine

There nothing on the carfax

I want to know if there's #s I can check on the tranny or Sonething thanks in advance

open hood
look at main bolts on trans- if they have blue paint on them its a warranty unit
If the oil jet kit is installed on top of trans and blue bolts- its a pre 2005 replacement unit
Blue bolt heads and no external oil kit = post feb 2005 replacement unit

no blue paint on bolt heads and external oil jet kit= original trans
