Burnt CD's will not play in my 99
I have a 99 tl-p and it wont play burnt cds from the computer, i dont get it, some burnt cds will play and others wont, i just burnt a cd no scratches on it or anything, and all does is spit it out, anyone have this problem, is there a fix to it?
its a very common problem with the TL. there are acouple fixes.
1. get a 02-03 indash 6disk player (tl only. CL wont work)
2. get a trunk mounted cd changer that will play them
3. aftermarket headunit

I was thinking of getting an aftermarkert headunit, when i got my subs and amps installed, but i opted not to b/c i like the clean look with the stock unit. I will have to get some prices on the 6cd changers, anyone know the pricing on the indash, and trunk mounted units?

- the HU is the issue! Discussed as much as the damn B-pillars
, yet not as much as the Transmission

I had a LOT of success with a Mitsumi 8x SCSI burner (circa 2000) and a 2001 batch of Verbatim 8x CDRs. These 52x Sonys on my Dell 48x burner play most of the time but you can't skip tracks...the Memorex 52x on the Dell 48x burner won't do anything at all (spin up forever). If I fire up my old school 8x burner I can get it to play after about 2 mins of spinning but you can't skip tracks. I have an 01.

(and even them stoped being playable in the car too)
Has anyone found the answer to this annoying problem? My 2001 TL plays burned CDs, but I cannot skip tracks beause it gets confused. I am trying different brands and different speeds without any luck.
Has anyone figured out how to play burned CDs in a TL?

I had the same problem as far as i know there is no way to fix it but put a new headunit in that plays cd-r type disks. I tried many things to to try to save money by not putting in a nice headunit but it didnt work. As far as i know the stock acura headunit doesnt read CD-R disks and if it does only for a short time. I would suggest getting a new headunit....... Some people say different kids of CD-R work like sony u could try that....
I tried Sony, Memorex. Next brands are Fuji Film and Staples. This is a strange problem. I've had my 2001 TL for two years and this was never an issue. I've played dozens of burnt CDs. A few weeks ago it stopped working correctly.
Not sure if it's the brand I was using or the HU finally going.

I have found that the CD burning application I use on my PC makes a difference in how they play in my 2000 TL. I use a component of Nero Burning ROM called NeroMix and most of my CDs play with no problem.
Make sure you burn your CDs at the lowest possible speed setting. This allows the laser to create the deeepest "cuts" in the CDR media, which increases reliability.
Also, remember that CDs are read from the inside out. If you get out to the 6th or 7th track and search to a new track, it may take some time for the player to adjust the speed and find the requested track.
Hope this helps.

ive tried a lot of different cds and i could never skip songs cause it would take (no lie) like 3-10 minutes to change. so finally i tried a sony cd-r 700 recorded at like 40-something, and i have no problems at all. skipping tracks takes 1-5 SENCONDS TOPS! i hopes this helps anyone else.
Whats up fellas, i have a 2000 tl and i have the same problems with burnt cds ...i have a little regiman that works most of the time .
1. I put in normal cd ( not burnt) let it play for about a half a song
2. I put in the burnt cd
3. as its read the cd i press and hold the scan button ( the botton on the dash that you press to go to the next song )
4. As soon as i here the slightest bit of sound ..I let go and the cd plays .
5 . to skip tracks you have to again press and hold the the scan buton
Its such a pain in the ass sometimes it doesnt wotk ....also i suggest a cd cleaner

Mines perfectly works. What i do is get these CD PLAYER cleaners and clean my cd player every week. The cds i use are TDK's. I seem to notice that it works perfectly when i use those Sony iSkins which is a cd plastic that wraps it. Also i noticed that 8/10 cds i put in, it works perfectly until i skip the song, so my suggestion to you is to put the cd in randomize first and let it run till it completely spins. For some reason, unknown why, it plays the music fine after it plays it fine the first time. I use nero and a TDK cd burner, burning at 16x. My success rate of playing the whole CD is 70%. Just remember to clean your cd player with a cleaning cd weekly. Hope this Helps

i just gave up on trying every darn cds. i opted for an IPOD with aux connector to the HU
I have a 99 and i dont think it has anything to do with the brand of CD or what speed you burn it at 'cause i've tried them both and always have bad luck playing them. sometimes I've even tried $.80/CD (black CD-R)
the reason i say this is because one of my friend's burnt CDs always play and take nearly no time to start reading which leads me to believe it has to do with the computer burning the CD. its happened a few times with other people too though sometimes it'll have problems when you skip a track.
