Broken motor mount on front of block

just picked up a 2002 Acura TL type s and i knew about this problem but the front motor mount is broken on the block and my mechanic said there isn't a way to replace the mount unless we replace it, he suggested weld the block and also said a cheaper solution would be putting a chain around the motor mount and welding the chain to the frame of the car. he said the bolts are tight but most of the threads are gone.

Was wondering if anyone had this happen or if you had some word of the wise that might be able to help me come up with a solution.

Just to clarify, you are stating that the bolts which hold #9 engine mount bracket, on the link below, to the engine block are stripped?
OR
the bolts that hold #5 engine mount, to the front beam, are stripped?

Talking to my buddy it seems more like someone tried installing a new motor mount and they left the bolts loose and the previous owner was very inclined to clutch drop the car at every red light. Yes its the number 9 plate. so where the number 9 plate mounts to the block there is a piece of the block is missing (ripped out i'm guessing) from that area and most of the treads for the other two bolts

You must have a 6-speed swapped 02 TL-S because only the 2003 CL-S came with a manual six speed transmission.

I'm figuring that too no wonder the shift boot doesn't fit, yeah im going to need to put the car on a rack and see everything that has been done to it. i just figure if i want to fix that engine mount issue i might as well swap a j32a2 motor into it

If you go that route, consider a J35A3, from an 01-02 MDX.

Does the missing part on the block look like it's in the area, circled in yellow, of the picture below?

The thread below is from a forum member who swapped a J35A3 into his automatic TL-S.
J35 swap project - AcuraZine - Acura Enthusiast Community

Keep in mind, since you have a six speed swapped TL-S, if you use an automatic J32A2 from a 2G CL-S or TL-S or an automatic '01-02 MDX J35A3, you would have to make that automatic engine six speed compatible.

That would involve taking the J32A2 drive pulley side crank sensor/ sub-harness, TB stopper plate, TB drive pulley, front head cam pulley and backing plate with cam sensors and sub-harness. If you transfer the J32A2 heads to the J35A3 you would benefit because those heads are a little better than the factory J35A3 heads. Theoretically, you would have a J35A3 Type-S.

If you use the J35A3, you would also need the J32A2 water connecting pipe and water passage, since the connections are different for the MDX. You would have to lose the J35A3 intake manifold spacer, to get the hood closed though. IIRC'y, you would need the J32A2 EGR and MAP sensor, as well. They are supposedly different on the MDX J35A3.

P.S. The previous owner must have really beat on this car to mangle the block like that.

If it's just the threads, why not install some thread inserts like Helicoil or time-sert?

That's a great idea. Heilcoil makes an M10 kit.
He states, though, that the left lower threaded female boss, in the block (see pic), has broken from the block due to abuse.

Yea i don't know what the back story of this car is the car Vin number is on co-part when it was in a collision, im guessing this dude bought the car and "fixed it up" aka put the wrong hood and said fuck the bumper. and im guessing that all the broken bits inside like both door cards and some of the interior was him. but what really pisses me off and i think is a sin is the Acura badge on the back he put upside down.

P.S. sorry for the late replies im not use to fourms.

^

Dude, that is a CL six speed. TL is four doors.
If and when possible, make sure to get a few pics of the engine mount carnage and post them up.
It would be interesting to see what you are dealing with.

lol, don't sweat it!
If interested, this is the closest front bumper I count find to your location on car-part.com
2003 Acura CL Hood Assembly-Stock# PP1140 (car-part.com)392 Highway 42
C4392 Highway 42
Conley, GA 30288
The search was for a hood, though it is likely they still have the bumper.

Thanks yeah depending on the price for the front and back bumper i may see if i might as well go aftermarket. the original owner backed into something and pushed the left exhaust tip into the bumper and cracked the back bumper
