brake in rotors/pads

I'm currently braiking in new pads and rotors. I had to brake really hard to avoid an accident, the question i have is did i screw up the rotors or the pads.It sounds like i did something wrong by doing that,if i hold the brake pedal down for a while i get a humming/vibrating sound there is no pulsation in the steering wheel. Is this sound part of the brake in or did i get the brakes to hot.can i fix this by replacing the pads and do the proper break in again or did i screw the rotors up,Any help with this would be appreciated Thanks, Formula 1
