"BRAKE" light on and sluggish brakes
So its gotten pretty cold around here recently (20's), and yesterday when i started my car the BRAKE light came on and stayed lit. I checked the fluid in the MC and it was full, although a bit old. As I started driving, the brakes seemed sluggish, with the brake pedal going much farther down than normal. After about 10 minutes of driving the brakes seemed to become normal again, and the light went out. The same thing happend tonight, although it took longer to become normal again.
I called a buddy of mine who's a mechanic and he said it could be the brake fluid 'gelling' because of the cold weather, but im pretty sure its not cold enough for that to happen.
I have a 300 mile drive thursday and im not sure if I should get the car checked out before i do, or if I can wait till i get there.
Any insight would be appreciated.

Go have your buddy flush-bleed the brake sysytem for you before the trip.
Brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air and should be changed every year.
Moisture is bad ands will mess up the pedal feel and braking pressure available to the calipers.....~`gelling` is possible~ Use synthetic brake fluid for more protection dot3 or dot4 fluid ONLY
bleed order LF left front LF RF RR LR
report back here please

That is my best guess as to what i would need to do, however he is home (300 miles away) and im away at school. Should i take it to the honda dealer here or am i safe to drive home?
oh and thanks for the quick reply!!

a private shop can do it, a brake place, general honda repair shop- import shop- its no big deal-
####give them the special bleed order- its different than most other cars ever made!
or honda if that makes you feel better- make sure they know you have an issue and check the cap level sensor and clean it while FLUSHING the brake fluid- its a standard service item to them
Do not drive it any farther than the shop= Is what I would say
