Brake Light problem, Please Help

My main brake lights do not work, I have checked the connections and fuses and all is good. Can it be as simple as the brake light switch? i have never heard of them going out? nut if the sell the part then I guess it would, however my window mounted brake light works, turn signals, hazards, and night time lights works. any ideas would be great.

You can take out the blubs and see if they are burnt out if they show any black residue or if the filament is broken. the blubs are 7443 I believe. You can get Led Replacements for them im sure would make them look cool at night good luck on findin the issues

and yes there is a sensor that can go out that taps the pedal and activates the brake lights

Yes, the brake switch can and has been known to go out. BUT if your 3rd brake light works then the switch isnt the problem. Have you replaced the bulbs? They are dual filament and just because the parking/driving lights work it doesnt mean the brake lights will. Have you tested the wiring back there to see if its getting a 12v signal?

Have you done anything recently which may have affected the brake lights ?
Seems odd that both are out and the high mount still works !

Somewhere between the brake pedal switch and the actual brake bulb sockets, hmmm....!
Yeah, it would appear as though the switch is working......maybe swap bulbs and check grounds ?

Did that also, for a quick fix I wired them, to the high mounted light and it works fine, however, the brake bulb light is on, at the dash, small price to pay for legally being able to drive.

When splicing the brake wiring into the high mount lamp, did you happen to notice if the wire coloring code was the same or different ? A wiring schematic would prove helpful to get things back to normal. Good ingenuity !

Check the brake light failure sensor in the left rear of the trunk. Your temporary wiring is bypassing it. It gets input from the brake light switch via the wht/blk wire, and sends voltage out on the green wire to both brake lights. The wht/blk wire splits off after the brake light switch and goes to the high mount brake light without going through the failure sensor.
