Brake Dust- stuck on wheels!

After dealing with repeated warping of the factory rotors, I bought new aftermarket ones, and installed some EBC Green Stuff pads.

They dust- BAD. I'm talking like black soot on the wheels after a week. Being busy, I haven't washed the car for, oh, a month or more. Today, my wife decides to wash, and the brake dust won't come off!
It looks like I might have to go to some harsh chemical that may take the clearcoat off the wheels.

I'm digusted with the ridiculous dusting of the Green Stuff pads, but don't want to give up the good brake feel. Any ideas would be appreciated.

"02 Type S, factory wheels, BTW, if that makes a difference.

Todd

take some dawn or comet to it, scrubb the ever living piss out of it..that should work, and if it doesnt all come off at once, go at it again.
do you have stock wheels?
chrome?
what ever they are, they make a buff for that, my old car had the same stuff you were talking about, all you got to do is get the stuff, mothers makes it, and just put it on a wax pad and put some elbow grease into it

I wouldn't use Comet. That stuff's abrasive and will damage the clear coat on the wheels. They will become dull. I've used Eagle One All Wheel cleaner and it works very well. If the dust is stubborn, use a wheel brush to help it along. It usually works great by itself though.

simply spray with kitchen type orange-glo or other citrus based product- that loosens the crud. Once clean, wax the rims with synthetic car wax- 3 coats is fine, to help stuff slide right off
Brake pads get hot and shed micro particles of material - which gets on the rims and then road dirt, rubber bits, and more brake pad material gets stuck to it like glue.
The dusting should lessen after a few weeks and the pads and rotors are bedded in good.

the comet did not phase my old wheels, but it may do differently, never know but elbow greese and a dish cleaner more than likely will work

Go to the dealer and get some Ardex wheel cleaner. Works great!

Just use a cleaner thats designed for cleaning wheels. And a little elbow grease.

2ndly those pads should be producing less dust than that. Like oem amounts. How long have you had them?

i am experiencing the same issue on my front with an excessive ammount of dust on the rims. i have EBC red stuff. i thought the ceramic pads were supposed to produce less dust. i have had mine on for about a month now. have EBC slotted/dimpled rotors.
edit: but it could be that i used the product shown above last wash and i did not put any wax on the wheels.....could have stripped any that was on them. ideas?
