Hey guys ... took my 2000 tl-s to the dealer the other day and they said that cyl. 1 and 4 were misfiring .... I changed out the spark plugs and no go ... My dash lights are also blinking when I have my headlights on .. Its not a short ( i think) cause the blinking is steady .. it doesnt flicker ... are these two things related?

 

Sounds like you might have to bad coils. Try switching the dead cylinders with any good one that fires up. Good Luck!

 

did you change out the wires when you changed the plugs?

 

I had the same problem but is your car spuddering when you let your foot off the brake as well as hesitation? If your having the same symptoms as i discribed then it is most likely a bad coil pak. I also changed my spark plugs at first with no luck.

Just unscrew all the allen bolts off each coil pak turn your car on and remove each pak one at a time. When you remove a good coil pak the engine idle will change and get rough. When you remove a non working one nothing will happen to the idle and then you know which one or ones are bad.

In my case it was just one dealer charges i think it was $68 for one coil pak but acura land has them for $48 shipped takes about 2 days. Do not take it to the dealer unless you want to get ripped off hope this helps you.

 

right ... didnt change the coil ... i dont they are completely bad but just intermittent .. its 1 and 4 ... ill have to check out acuraland ...thanks for the tips

 

anyone have any ideas about the flashing dash lights? ... it doesnt do it when I'm idling ..just when in drive ... and the Nav doesnt do it...
