bad worn brake pad.. why?

I own a 2003 acura tl.

Today I was going to change rear brake pads but I didn't

because of bad worn brake pad..

The right side brake pad was almost worn but the left side brake pad was almosst new.

I checked the history of the maintenance and found the rear brake pads were replaced last year but the rotor wasn't mentioned
(This is the used car purchased less than 1year)

I didn't change rear brake yet. I want to find the cause of that. Is it just a bad pad? or rotor? or any other problem?

thank you

thats not going to fix the root problem of `caliper is not squeezing the pads to cause wear`

thats going to be a bad caliper --good plan to replace in pairs as they get equal use~
how is the brake fluid? wiki hygroscopic for what happens to fluid
and can sieze a caliper

remove caliper from `good pads`- place a 2x4 in caliper (to keep piston from popping out) and have helper operate brakes
ck movement and free return of the caliper piston

pump out some brake fluid to see whats in caliper

hey- ck the rear pads for 3rd tab issue
stick your head under rear of car and look at rotor
Is it shiny all the way across, same as all the other rotors
or is there rust on half its width and shiny on other half = 3rd tab issue

You can DIY grind tab off FLUSH to the backing plate, so it doesnt hit the caliper piston first anymore-making it extend crooked and cause angled pad contact to inner side

for those new: many makers using RL backing plate and selling as TL pad because the dimensions are the same -except they use a raised tab top center for park brake

We use pad with raised tabs on ends only!!
one holds noise maker arm to warn of low pads
the other is empty or may not exist

Is that your wear problem, angled? or flat wearout= from excess use

I am going to check and change calipers this sunday.

I think that you, 01tl4tl, are right. I tested the right caliper by pressing the brake pedal. it seemed like that didn't press.

I'll try again this sunday.

thank you again, 01tl4tl
