AC Problem

Alright guys, seems like everyone's AC is going out these days. So I was in a wreck about a month ago, basically totaling my car sadly and commercial insurances are a**holes. But that's not the point, yet at least.

So it all started Sunday, hopped in my car and bam out of nowhere the AC stopped working. It worked fine the day before! A few months ago I went through cause I had the same problem but the melted connector thing was the issue and got that all fixed up and the resistor was fine.
So here we are today, I checked all the fuses etc and the wire harness we added on (shrink wrapped so it's still ok), the connectors are fine, no burning. My sister also has a 00' TL so I swapped her resistor over and it worked for a second then stopped. So I ended up blowing her resistor somehow and bought her a new one. I went ahead and bought myself one and the AC worked again. I went home and it still worked. Left home and still worked. Got to autozone and left then a heard a pop as I started my car and the AC stopped working again. So I was like fak! I swapped it out for another one and same thing, worked fine the initial start up but any time after that it wouldn't blow. Anybody know what the cause of this is? I'm thinking the blower motor is going out or drawing too much power, either way I just need something to get me going with AC again. These Texas days are killing me. Especially with the fact that my driver side window won't roll down cause a cement truck didn't see me and dented in my whole door with just his tire.
I'm still waiting to hear back from their insurance so I need a easy fix especially since I'm starting college now and everything is raping my bank account.

Sorry about the lengthy post, but I hate showing up to class all sweaty! Thanks for the help in advance!

remove the shrink wrap and look for the short! Always suspect the last thing done to the car, especially when it was done by you!
Something is loose somewhere to keep popping the resistor, fuse doesn't blow when this happens?
What speed is fan running when it happens?

Have you removed the blower and ckd for easy spin by hand?
Jumper wire power to it and ck for bearing noises?

The fuse seems fine when this happens. Doesn't appear to be blown or anything. And i guess I'm looking for the two wires that were shrink wrapped to be touching or burning correct?

the fuse has been tested with 12 volt light or a multi-meter set on Ohms Infinite
NO guessing allowed!
Another thread that's near this one on the list mentions a main controller for ac (multiplex?) could be going bad. ck it out for details

Alright so I finally had time to check it out cause school has been my priority. The shrink wrap was the cause. What can I do to prevent this from happening again? Would anything else have had potential to be messed up by the wires shorting?

any other wire damage would cause a short as you already learned.
fuses are designed to protect the system so the rest is probably ok
Each wire is supposed to be inside a separate shrink wrap over a connection.
Whats happening with yours? added in harness? any exposed wire before connector at plug--what?

PICS would help this thread!
