99 TL Havin problems starting...
just late yesterday i got in my tl and it wouldnt start. so i turned off the key took it out and tried it again, then again and it finally started. it was the first time it ever didnt want to start. then today i got in my car to warm it up and once again it didnt start. it has about 114k miles on it, the check engin light is on. once it gets running its smooth, and when even it do want to start it dosnt shutter it just starts up..can anybosy help im really lost on this one.
Sounds like you might have a bad battery. I had one once that kept shorting out internally . It would start the car perfectly then next time it would not. Have it checked at an auto parts store and go from there.
Hmmm i havent thought of that. My car does still have what looks like the orginal battery, it hasnt been changed as long as ive had the car and i dunno what the previous owner did. Its really cold here and its the first time this car has been in such cold weather. we have been seeing some temps in negitives. ill look into that.
Actually i tried it again last night and i noticed the green key light blinking and i couldnt remember seeing it blink before. then i noticed it go out and it started up. could there be someting wrong with my key?

When you tried starting it did it make a click, click, noise or nothing at all.

Do this test:
Go out to it, put the key into the ignition and turn it to "ON" position, but don't start the engine. Watch all the lights on the dash. The green key light should come on briefly then go out. If it starts flashing (even when you're not turning the engine over) it means that the immobilizer doesn't recognize your key.
From what you said right now I think I know your problem. You need a new transponder key.
BTW: the green key light should ONLY flash when you turn the car off, not when you try turning it on.

Today i tested out my car, it started up with any problems..the green light didnt flash, i think i might have a bad key. it is pretty weathered. does the key ever go bad on its own? how much are replacement keys?
If the key's been in extreme hot or extreme cold, or if it's been submerged in water or even dropped, it can act up. It's a simple chip with a code that has to be in the ignition for the car to start. Just get a new key cut, should be $75 or less.
