2001 Acura TL OVERHEATING!!!! HELP
I changed the thermostat 2 days ago and after that everything seemed to be running perfect. seeing as here in St. Louis the temperature is over 100 degrees, im not sure as to what could be the problem now. it just started overheating again 2 days after the thermostat was changed and the drivers side fan does not kick on. could it be a fan temp sensor? or could it be that there was air left in the system and it finally made its way out today? if anyone could help me out i would greatly appreciate it.

Assuming you are not losing coolant or have leaks, you have 2 things to look at:
1. Clog radiator
2. fan is not running properly.
Check the fan, check the temp sensor. If they are good then you have clog radiator.

did you follow the book procedure for burping system after thermostat replacement?
Trapped air doesnt go away!!,,its get stuck behind thermostat and fools fan sensor
once thats been done--with heater on full hot.. - the next suspect is fan temp sensor
did you use a honda thermo?-theTL is kinda picky about that part

well whenever i "jump start" the fan by spinning it with my hand, it will continue to run on its own, but not at full speed. kind of half ass spinning of the blades. and no i just got a duralast thermo from autozone.

replace fan, bleed coolant and make sure that when you use the A/C BOTH fans turn on.

2002 TL overheating.
have an 02 TL with 280k miles on it. Replaced tranny three times once on warranty.
Last tranny they put an atf radiator cooler in front of the original radiator.
Problem is now I live in tx and it's much hotter than Idaho. At stops or especially if I turn ac on at all the heat climbes very quickly and have to em either get air through it by driving fast or crank the heat.
This is what I have done. Replaced both fans, thermostat, radiator cap, burped radiator and still having problems.
Some Honda guys that I have looking at it want to take the atf aftermarket cooler out and make it stock again. That scares me though thinking once they do that tranny will heat up and go to pieces. I need some advice.

Have you replaced your radiator or looked at the temp sensors to make sure they're actually turning on the fans?

01 Acura CL radiator replacement aftermath help
Hey guys I know this thread is for TL but seeing that it's just a sedan CL I was wondering if someone could help me out.
So a quick recap I recently had to replace my radiator because it started leaking and it overheated on me. So i go buy the thermostat and new radiator. Drain the coolant, replace thermostat and radiator, then fill it up with first gallon of coolant and fill the reservoir to max line. I turn on the car to bleed out the air, fans do their thing turn on and off 2 times, radiator cap is off and coolant is at the fill line. I rev the engine to 2000 rpm but coolant isn't going down and no bubbles. Engine temp already reaches the halfway mark. Turn it off and let it cool down, check on the radiator to top it off but coolant still at the fill line. Reservoir tank is slowly going down but what worries me atm is if it's ok to drive my CL and keep topping off the reservoir or if I didn't properly bleedout the air
has someone ever run into this similar issue or did I not properly bleed out the air. Please let me know

Burning Brakes
Bleed the air out with one of these. the radiator fans might come on...but more importantly you will see burbling in the funnel and the fluid level drop slightly as the last pockets of air make their way to the radiator out the funnel.

BTW..did you see that the thermostat has a specific way to go back in, and that some aftermarket thermostats will open close at a different temp than the oem part? if the needle on the temp is going up slightly higher, it may be due to the different spec, but if it's going very high perhaps check that the thermostat was installed correctly.
