10 year 24K mile tuneup/check?

Guys,

This may sound crazy but yes I have a 99 TL that I love and it is just under 24K miles. Other than the brakes, oil a few times and battery it is running fine.

Since it has such light miles over 10 years, can anyone advise on what should be done. The manual obviously doesn't fit such low mileage for a 10 year old vehicle.

Also, can anyone tell me where to get touch up paint for the 99 TL? Wish the dealership gave this to us when new.

Thanks much guys and good miles to ya!

i would say all timing belt for sure. yes its not near the mileage at all, but because its rubber, it deteriorates, so id change that now to be safe...

Yes, I'd agree. I was looking at the belt on the left side of the engine. I agree that it's best to get that out of the way.

Not even going to think about doing that myself though. I just have to find a good shop in the Hoboken/NYC area that can do it. No point in giving Acura dealership all that extra cash.

Belts but not even the sparkplugs? Hmm not too bad.

Now I gotta find me the touch up 99 TL burgundy touch up paint.

the timing belt itself is under that plastic cover...so if you were just looking at the outside belt that's your accessory belt. timing belt could probably take a replacement anyway though.

can't speak for sparkplugs but as for touchup paint my acura dealer only wanted $5 for a bottle...contrast with bmw $100+ (they custom mix theirs though)

Oh okay, thanks much. Will get those belts replaced. And Acura isn't killing us on the touch up? That's great.

It would be nice if they give it to you when you buy the car but who's complaining. That's pretty good and I'll call them tomorrow.

24K miles in 10 years?!? That's it?!? It's barely broken in!! Change all the belts and hoses, I think in this case you don't need to replace the pump or idler pulleys since they have minimal wear if any. You might want to change the coolant too, over time it develops acidity and can cause corrosion damage. The cabin filter if it hasn't been done already. Other than that, you should be good to go.

NYC area

Since I'm in the NYC area, most often I take public transportation and the car is used really on the weekends.

Forgot to mention that one tire was replaced last year.

Looking into doing the cabin filter and the belts/hoses. Also will change the coolant.

Still love the feel and ride of this car. When Acura upgraded the TL to a sporty version, seemed like the next step was the RL. But I have more miles to go with this one.

Last question, is there a good place to order and get the belts/hoses one stop shop?

Thanks much for all the help! Needed to catch up.

might want to flush the brake fluid as well...it absorbs water with age

yes, but apparently it's pretty easy to do yourself...there are instructions somewhere in this forum. make sure to follow the special TL drain order.

Well I'll have to schedule another visit to change the tranny, brake fluid and coolant.
So there will be no mess made here.
