02 Acura TL Engine Cutoff

This started happening a couple of days ago. Turn car on, put car in gear, press on the gas pedal lightly, begin to move and around 2-3 grand in 1st gear the engine cuts off for a second or two (no power) and cuts back on. Car would would jerk once the engine cut back on if I kept my foot held lightly on the gas pedal while it was cut off.

The symptoms only happen after the car has been started and I accelerate to the end of 1st/beggining of second gear (cold or warm engine). Car runs perfectly fine after this occurs until I turn off car and it sits a while.

Some information of stuff recently done: Tranny was rebuilt a month or two ago. Installed tsudo exhaust and got mid muffler delete a couple of weeks ago.

There are NO warning lights indicating there is an issue with the car on the dash.

! Sounds like the range sensor is off or not aligned properly.. Go to the rebuild shop and ask them to check it out.. If it didn't happened before rebuild? Is their fault.

Yeah, gotta agree with Skirmich.....it appears as though something is on the edge. Tranny shop should be good enough to check it out for ya.

What they said, if it only does it between 1st and 2nd and eng, temp has no effect, that points to the tranny that you just had replaced.

After doing more research,
https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-cl-2001-2003-50/replaced-iac-valve-479308/

Problem seems to be the IAC (Idle Control Valve). Since it doesn't seem to be completely broken I am just going to clean it with carb cleaner. Will clean the Throttle Body aswell and report the results.

Thanks for everyone's feedback!

Spent Labor Day morning cleaning gunk

Used throttle body cleaner/sea foam to remove all the gunk. Noticed better throttle response after cleaning.

There was a lot of carbon build up in the throttle body, idle control valve, and the intake manifold. Here are pictures of what everything looked like:

Happy "LABOR DAY" spent cleaning on your TL. It appears that things needed a bit of attention. Once ya get it all back together, reset the ECU and see how the car runs.

If all this work doesn't pay off, ya may need to have your tranny guy check the issue.

No work today so I thought I might as well work on the car instead haha

Yeah, the stuff tends to get gunked up over time. It's amazing that with some time and labor effort.....how much better the car will run. Probably saved yourself hundreds of dollars !!! Good job.
