XS Headers

I am planning to get the XS headers from SSautochrome.com.

Ive searched and looked through various posts and i am aware of the resonance noises that you get (in lower rpm ranges) when you just install everything (hardware) that comes with these XS headers.

So my question is...

To fix XS Header's problem I will have to:

- Use the stock oem header gaskets
- Buy new bolts or use the stock oem bolts
- buy and replace the crappy flex pipe part instead of just wrapping it up like a ban-aid

Is this list complete if I want to have a good set of XS headers without giving me any other problems?

i think if it comes with two flex pipes, then you've got a problem, last i saw xs were back ordered and ppl were still waiting for them to come in

Not every one has the problems. I have ZERO resonance as do others.

Take it to an exhaust shop and they will have a little section of pipe.

Spray on the rusted bolts to get them loose. Try spraying some on (when the headers aren't that hot) every day for a few days leading up to the install.

Thanks for the reply! Will they replace it with the same (but better quality) flexy material or is it just a straight pipe? Or is it something else? Im asking just to get some sort of picture in my head.

also get the welds rewelded otherwise sometime down the road they will break. The welds on my are starting to crack & it makes a horrible ticking noise. You can hear inside the engine. I hope to get mine rewelded this week

every single weld that is welded to the exhaust manifold, its pretty bad. But i let it get that bad, I knew the welds were cracking a few months ago & have just been too lazy to have em rewelded. But if you do it b4 you put them on they will last for a very long time.
