Is it worth rebuilding???

Well, the inevitable happened a few days go...getting off the highway slowing down towards a yield sign...look to my left no cars coming...as I step on the gas...BAM

the tranny slipps.....OOOHH NOOOO.

for the rest of the 12 mile commute to work, I felt the car jerk...

took it in to the shop, got a bunch of misfire codes...replaced the spark plugs, did a tranny flush...

NO GO...

it's a 2000 TL 193,000 miles - the tranny has never been replace...

this is where it gets EMO - it was a nice car all these years...

so my question is - IS IT WORTH REBUILDING???

not everyone wants a manual trans--thats why they bought an automatic
Some day your back will be sore and that auto trans is your new best friend

if you have the car fixed up the way you like it, and know it will go another 100k on that motor if you keep up with oil changes and timing belt-water pump..
its well worth the $1500-2600 range of rebuilding your trans
Where are you going to find another car you like so much- with reasonable insurance and low maitenance needs, for the price of this repair

^oh no doubt. has anyone actually gotten a 6spd swap done at a shop? I always assumed it'd cost way too much

shops would be crazy high labor--running 80 per HOUR cheapest around here--100-120-130 plus!! is becoming common, as the cost of running a shop and complying with all the govt regulations is costing more and more--

that cost passed right onto consumers-notice CON is the first part of that word~
guess who is getting the short end of the deal

Means: did you get some phone quotes of low high and average price for a TL rebuild?
If they cant say because they dont do enough of them or never did one--skip that shop!!
stay away from the big franchise stores too--in general they have problems
