Question where to start?

i recently purchased a 2003 TL type S w 56k mi and i want to start adding an intake of somesort to the car. ive been looking at CAIs, short ram, and whatever else i could find, and i noticed that the AEM CAI says it only fits the type-s without the foglights... would the CAI still fit in my car even if i do have foglights? and if so, which one is more highly recommended?

im sure this is a rather noob question, but i gotta start somewhere.

Yes it will fit with the fog lights. AEM or Injen. If you can still find one look for the comptech ice box.

thanks!

I take it the Icebox produce more gains than the AEM or Injen CAIs, but I noticed that on the comptech site, the Icebox only fits the TL-P.

I also read on the site that Comptech is going outta business...

Comptech did make an Icebox for our cars (I have an 03 TL-S as well). I'm not sure if the Icebox had better gains than the AEM, but Comptech is out of business, so finding an Icebox on the market might be pretty hard.

I was considering one as well, but will likely go AEM or Injen now.

I was leaning towards AEM moreso than Injen, but I thought I would get a second opinion on the forum. Which provides more gain? More reliable? (god im such a noob when it comes to this stuff )

Anyone else have any recommendations as what the next mod should be? Exhaust? Headers? Im new to the modding as well as to the forums here, so any ideas would be very helpful.

are you looking more for noise or performance? Icebox offers the best performance but i believe the least amount of noise. I just did the icebox and i love the noise it adds. It's barely noticable until you push it and then it adds some growl to the motor when its up near the 3.4k rpm mark.

I'm more for performance than noise. After all, who cares if your car sounds like its going 75mph when your only hitting 30? At least thats how I see it. As for the Icebox, whats the part number for it? I found this one here.

And if they end up not having it in stock or whatever the case may be, I'll probably end up going with this V2 .

welcome to the world of AcuraZine.
here is another option for you: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=154923
I am sure you have noticed that CAI's are not cheap. Read that page that I have posted above and maybe you will join the crew.
I've put my name on the list, just waiting for the prices to come out.

The ice box is supposed to get most power. If you are going to buy AEM or Injen, DEFINITELY go with Injen!

Ah yes, I've read that thread... and so far I'm liking what I'm seeing there...

As for going with Injen, have you had better experience with Injen vs AEM? I just want to get as much info as I can before throwing a fair amount of money down.

What would the P/N for the Injen CAI be for the Type-S?

well... the one with the better gain, if applicable?

Don't forget about the sweet "shhhh" sound you get when you turn the engine off.
