Underdrive pulleys or XS headers?

Hey guys I want to either get some pulleys or headers. I was wondering what you think I should do first. I plan on installing them myself and I would imagine headers would be easier but I would rather have more proformance over ease of install. I have access to all the tools I would need. What do you think?

Well the fronts are easy- the rear ---thats another story
And its always loud

Crank Pully- stealthy power- faster revving- does require big torque wrench and brave friend to assist

Oh one more question. On the XS website I can only find headers for a 98-02 Accord. I know we use the same platform but are these the correct headers to buy? Or am I just blind?

id go headers as well. the UDP costs a lil more with smaller gains. u can enhance the intake mod for cheap if u get some Outlaw Engineering's thermoblock spacers. they run for slightly over $100 for the set and will reduce the air temps entering the intake manifold which translates to more power. best bang for the buck with the TL is the headers though. 35hp for $100? cant go wrong with that. just make sure to have a breaker bar and a can of liquid wrench so u can fight those undercar bolts.

i gathered some info for when i install them on my friends TL and ill share the .txt file with anyone who wants to do the install. its all info i found on the forums in the various threads and complied it as notes.

http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/3/...nstallinfo.txt

check out comptech's websire for a .pdf for the actual installer instructions as well. its not a hard part to install, it just takes some time to get all the nuts loose

lol. im no man :-p

if u want more power out of the TL, theres plenty of threads about it. the basics are intake, headers, thermoblock spacers, UDP, and removing resonators/mid muffler. u could get more extreme and do a custom turbo install or buy Comptechs supercharger, but i dont feel its worth $4000... espically for 60hp. theres always nitrous, but thats only good for the track. coming from a V8 background, i would want real power and not something u have to keep refilling. the TL isnt really a car that someone would push to the limit and drag race it all the time. the trannies arnt strong enough to handle more then 150hp over the stock rating before it starts failing.

By the way do you really think you get a 35 hp gain? Thats seems like a lot. Dont get me wrong Ill be stoked if I see that kind of hp increase but damn that seems like a stretch.

youd be surprised how good the gains are from headers. 95% of factory header systems are extremely restrictive, so the XS system is more open and allows better airflow. i aslo think the XS headers optimise the amount of backpressure needed to max out the preformance gains on the engine. its easy to make 35hp to the crank, but expect 10hp or so to the wheels.. youll notice in the mid to high end of the power band and its well worth the price of admission.

i don't think its 35hp but the xs is around 15 to 20hp not sure.
are tl's have some choices of modding
- you could do a 3.5 conversion. search for it and you will find plenty of info on it
- Comptech SC (supercharger) but it doesn't really worth the price im going after it but for 50 60hp its enough for me.
- and there is the header, cai, oe spacers, cat back and other stuff

their is other stuff also but you have to search, these are the main stuff.

thats why you remove them right before then

either that or go for broke with comptechs headers, which do have CARB approval..

I also heard that DC is working to get their headers CARB approved... anyone know for sure?

just dont get caught. i wouldnt worry too much since theres plenty of people running around with deep tints and obnoxious exhaust pipes to keep the cops off you. save the oem stuff and save it for test day and youll have no problems.
