Type S -conversion- 99 TL

Alright guys I need some help here..

... awhile ago I had decided to purchase some CL type s components to swap into my 99 TL-p. The parts I have sitting around are: throttle body, fuel injectors, upper intake manifold(complete), and CL heads(complete).

From what I have searched on the site and reading NSNEXT's writeup I have found that on a 99 I have to also replace the lower intake manfold to match the Type S, also I would need to buy a bigger size intake to match the throttle body. I dont think I have seen anyone swap to the type s heads before, so thats where I need the most help with.OK. Now on with my questions.

Would I have to buy a new timing belt or does the TL-p have the same one? My second question is, after installing all the type S parts would a tune be necessary in order for my car to run properly or do you think the ECU will automatically adjust itself and be fine? Any tips on how I should go about this would be great too.thnx

Did you get the IMRC to control the upper manifold butterfly? You will need the lower plenums since you have a 99, PM me i actually have a set from my old car that i will sell you from my 03. You will need the fuel rail too most likely. You don't really need a tune, but it wouldn't hurt to use a Neo and tune it anyway. You will need an intake made for the type S, although when i swapped manifolds i use my TLP intake and just stretched the coupler.

You still arent making it a type-s motor. There is more to it than just those parts.

you'll need to sleeve the cylinders and somehow increase your redline to get the most out of it.

Different pistons for a higher compression

I know that the end product would not result in a true type S motor, but I am still curious to see what type of gains I will get out of doing this. I pretty much have the stuff so I said why not throw it in the car, but it looks like I might need some more parts to really get this right from what you guys have said. I am also tracking down some other parts to possibly move up to 3.5L, and for that swap all these type S parts that I already have are needed anyway.

You will need:

Lower IM (2)
IMRC
rpm switch (MSD makes a bunch) to control IMRC
Fuel rails
Fuel pressure regulator and all the rubber tubing (99TL won't fit)

I would also recommend as above, an air/fuel controller. I have the Apexi VAFC.

Keep in mind I STILL have not hooked up my rpm switch so I can't tell you what the gains are.

What about the transmission? A Type S engine with a 4spd auto?

Problem is is most of the type-s parts are designed to be used in higher rpm, which you cant reach with the stock ECU. There is no way to reprogram the ECU to allow higher RPM. By time you purchased all these parts you could have bought an actual Type-s motor and found a way to make it work. (which i dont think would be that hard)

Good point about the higher rpm I never even thought of that initially. Man fsttyms1 you really rained down on my idea..lol. Looks like its back to the drawing board.
