type S conversion??

wassup im new to these forums and was wondering if you guys could help me or give me some advice..

I plan on picking up a 99-01 TL and swapping in a j32a2 type s motor from a 02 model. I already have the J32a2 long block but it has a rod knock so i will be rebuilding it(considering stroking it to a 3.5L). I was wondering if anyone on these forums has done this conversion/swap yet.. any helpful info would be appreciated.. My main concern is the ECU, will a ECU from an 02-03 type s fit into an 99-01 TL? thanks in advance

The ecu will fit, there are various members on here that have done the swap, along with some that have done the swap paired with the 6 speed swap...

find a 00-01, wiring wise it will be easier as they came with the 5 speed and not the 4 speed

I have a 2000 tlp.I have a j32a2 longblock and ecu in the garage. If i swap in the ecu will the key need to reprogrammed to that ecu? I also have the key that goes to the type-s ecu. I have the whole front clip of a cl-s. It was sliced in half by a tree.

If you have the ignition switch for that key then you should be good. Other wise you can have your original key programmed to the new ECU.

I have the type-s front clip, the whole swap. I also have another j32a2 longblock in the garage that I picked up from the local pick-a-part. Didnt need it but I grabbed it just cause it was a steal. So the A1 bottom end in my car is still pretty healthy, if I swap the a2 heads from the spare longblock on the a1 bottom, and install my type-s ecu, should it run pretty much like a type-s? I dont feel like doing the whole swap untill its time for a tranny, which I know will be eventually lol.

nice.

I personally like the way the 99-01 looks with the straight headlights instead of the 02-03 bug eyes
