I believe custom turbo installs are better. They cost more to fabricate to your vehicle but you pick the turbo you want, the piping is bent custom to your vehicle, and it is tuned entirely to your wishes. Safer in a way. You aren't putting unwanted holes next to the ones the "kit" was supposed to bolt into because it wasn't designed correctly. And there is a great sense of pride in the time and work you put into it.

Bolt on power is just that. Bolt on. I hate the very nature of those words. If you want to tune your car, do it right the first time. Those kits are $3k-5k out of the box. Might cost $6k-8k for a custom setup. Maybe $10k with a good engine modification to boost the numbers even higher but in the end you'll have a quality build and some serious power that'll save you from the endless upgrade path of looking for more power from small time items costing several grand a piece that only gives you another 2-3 HP at best. If you go turbo, go head-over-heals. You won't regret it. Unless you chop it and cut corners to save money and blow your motor... Think about it.

If you want a turbo, spend the money on custom!

I heard the "ebay" turbo kits are cheaply made and manifolds and turbos crack and blow pretty easily. I would say go comptech, or 6spd swap

yeah the manual tranny comes from the CL-S.

I agree with the custom turbo kit as well. cost will be higher but your satisfaction along with your performance will be as well.

This. ^

To me it doesn't make sense to spend 8-10k on a car that's worth that much or less, but that's just me

people need to realize that 2nd gen Tl's were not made in manuals, i always get asked why i didnt buy the manual, cus there isnt any unless they have been swapped.

not only that but i find 2nd gen tl's easier to mod/swap than the newer ones considering all the electronics being tied together
