TL-P Supercharged?

Wanted to know if anyone on here has a TL-P with a supercharger, and if so what kind. How much was the whole install and also how much hp it added, ive seen superchargers on some websites but they all said for type-s only

for the tl-p you have to check for 98-02 honda accord CT SC. you could use that sc for your tl-p

comptech closed down so unless you find a shop that has one in stock (which would be surprising), your only option is to find a used one...

good luck..

Comptech is back open under new ownership. So if you want one contact you local comptech dealer or Mr heeltoe was comptech dealer but I don't know if he still is.

if you get the typeS manifold and throttle body, the typeS supercharger should bolt up directly to a TLP.

stick with the CT supercharger rather than what you find on websites. the CT kit comes with everything you need to do a complete retrofit. also if you look towards a turbo, a certain turbo kit out there has clearance issues cuz the company jacked prototype plans from someone on here.

my opinion...

stop wasting money since the Altima V6 and Camry V6 are making 270hp

i can see a family sedan will be breaking the 300hp mark in a few years

aw don't say that Sam! The TL is one of the nicest. The second gen definitely looks better than the new Altima and Camry!

I'm beginning to feel the same way. So many new family sedans out with more HP than TL-S it's unbearable. I may upgrade to the new accord V6 coupe once my loans are paid off. It looks much better than the older ones.

LOL, family sedan, more than uber sports sedan. I agree with the newer models pushing the HP envelop a ton. Many family sedans now outfitted with just a NA V6 are faster than most sports car from even 6-8yrs ago. In the next few years family grocery getter's will be pushing over 300HP and pulling .90-.95 on the skidpad. Our TL is behind the times a bit, but very attractive compared to the newer strange body styles being put into production(i.e. camry, maxima).

Yes, just look at infinities, most of them are over 300 these days. I keep on asking myself this question, why does Acura not step up with something more powerful and new to its competitors???

even the new TL's powertrain is outdated...the J32/J35 engine are good in fuel economy and on par with the VQ35 but toyota has a better V6 overall coz they got the similar VTEC system in a DOHC engine

SOHC VTEC is pretty much done in the horsepower race and they need to come up with a new V6 with DOHC VTEC

ALSO...if u put a supercharger in a TL-P...you only get about 250-260whp....which is same as a IS350 stock

so now u get the idea of not wasing any money...i will fall for the 300hp BMW 335i

^ uhhh ... last time I checked ... a IS350 or a 335i stock retails around C$50k. The TL-P can be had for like C$12k easily. Add a supercharger for C$6k ... (I'm guessing at its cost). Where is someone going to find the C$30k difference? If you got deep pockets -- great. Otherwise ... please keep on-topic.

Adding a supercharger can be done to a TL-P. You might want to call up Comptech (which is back in business) to see what mods are required for it to fit.

PS I agree with adding a supercharger on a TL-P not to be a great 'investment'. Even on a TL-S ... it doesn't add very much, outside of bragging rights.

I'm gonna supercharge my CLP

^^ I'm going to use most of the CT kit but use a bigger manifold, the Eaton M112.

Don't be all that worried about horsepower - considering the new TL-S has 286 detuned HP (compared to 300+ in the RWD sedans), the next step is going to be higher. Besides, what would you rather drive - a plain vanilla family Camry with 270hp, or a still good looking for 6 years old TL-S?

If you haven't noticed, the new Accord is coming out this fall - the top engine will be a 273hp version of the 3.5L in the 2007 TL-S. So next fall the new TL should debut with about 300hp, if not more. I think it will just decimate the Camry and Altima in terms of both performance and looks. The Maxima is going to get axed, btw....

the people ho don't the like tl's hp are comparing with wrong cars. You can't compare a 2000-03 tl's with 07 camry's or maxima's. Well if you look at 00 altima or a maxima our 00 t's are faster if compair them. compare 07 TL S with the 07 camry's look witch sedan is faster.

I agree with the coment above. I worked a lot on my car to compete with cars in my league and make my car "my own." I am at 248 hp to wheels before high flow cat and exhaust liquid cooling and I am going to try the outlaw engineering parts because that manifold gets SOOOOOO hot. I love the difference and would consider installing LSD when tranny comes out in the future. There is no sense for me to buy anything else unless its mindblowing in difference. Hope the GTR is not a let down but I would still want a sedan that can pass a car that is doing 80 like its going 30 and with the SC thats how it is. I dont think your top end speed is better just your low - mid rpms. There has been a lot of discussion about whether the type S manifold chamber should remain closed, mine is for now and I will test down the road with a switch. There are different ways to do a kit on the TL P, just depends how much you want to spend.

Very true, but if all you really want is for it to be as fast as possible the turbo will do that better than the SC as far as I know.

Only problem with that is there is a hell of a lot more involved in tuning a Turbo charged vehicle as opposed to a supercharged one..... especially when the supercharger was made for the car.
