Ticking/Knocking sound when start up car.

Hi fellas, my car has been making these annoying ticking/knocking sounds ever since i bought it. I took it to 3 mechanics, and they told me that i should not worry. Well after 22k that i have driven in the past year, i am indeed not worried, but the sound is hella annoying. Sounds tractorish.

I hear these ticks when the car is cold (especially if it is cold weather, then its really annoying) and also when the car is idling.

This is what i have found. I think it pertains to my issue:

But I don't know if i have the ticking sound coming from the same place. It sound like its coming from the engine. But what the hell do i know lol.

Use a mechanic's stethoscope or just a hose up to your ear to locate the sound. Sometimes it's hard to tell exactly where a noise is coming from unless you do this.

Hmm, so i guess my valve's need adjustment. Is it a complicated job?

Overall, it's weird that i have this problem. I fill up only 94 octane fuel and i don't really rape my engine (took it to V-tech like 2wice) previous owner was middle aged and did not look like he took a stock tl to the track.

You're welcome, but I don't think you read far enough in that thread. Post #5 in that thread (and following) talks about the EVAP purge valve solenoid, and provides a pic. I would suggest using a hose or stethoscope to see if that is what's making your noise. If that's it, it's a lot easier than a valve adjustment.

Yea, no, i read the whole thread, but it seemed like they were on the valve adjustment side more than the purge control solenoid side. From that ive gathered some info on what it's all about about and im quite sure that the solenoid is the problem.
The thing that made me even happier is that it is so cost effective ($30 beans at the dealer, and im sure that i can replace it myself)
