Single Muffler?

Ive been intrigued by the thought of just doing a single muffler instead of the stock dual muffler setup. I was just wondering if anyone has already done this, if so can i see some pics? or maybe a sound clip. I was thinking of getting some custom 2.5" piping to a HKS CarbonTi muffler, any thoughts? ? ?

wouldn't look right

one option would be have a single muffler where the resonators are then having just piping back to tips.

there was a few single exhaust versions but that was a long time ago

if you go with what demolition said about using mufflers where the resonator is i think it might look ok. if you run a string of resonators from the cat back to they Y split and then just have nice bends back to the tips it would look good and you could probably get a decent tone as well.

Performance-wise, it won't be good. There is always flow restriction whenever the two exhaust pipes (one from each V6 bank) combines together into a single inlet or a single muffler.

When you go to a single muffler, make sure it comes out in the center, directly under the license plate, make the exhaust tip at least as big as a coffee can (bigger = better), be sure it hangs low by using an extra long coat hanger, chrome tip (almost forgot that), and don't forget to put the car in neutral at all stop lights and rev the engine until the light turns green. Oh, decals on the rear window, No Fear might be a good one. Hood scoop, bubbly tint job, chrome door edge guards. That's all for now. If I think of anything else, I'll post another message.

Just to be clear, are you talking about one muffler while retaining the dual exhaust pipes?

I know that -Rz-UA5 has a custom single exhaust, I've seen him on the road a couple of times up here in the Toronto area, his profile is on page 4 of the Official 2nd Gen Members Directory, maybe he'll chime in if he's around, Heres a pic

In addition to coming out the center and dual tips, ya gotta do the following;
BIG exhaust tips, at least the size of a 10 lb coffee can.
Chrome tips
Make it hang low with an extra long coat hanger.
When you're at a stop light, be sure to put the car in neutral and rev the engine until the light turns green.
Add a hood scoop
Add some decals to the back window, No Fear would work.
Get a bubbly tint job.
Chrome, welded chain steering wheel

Yeah, baby!

I will soon be starting a business where MBs, BMWs, Lexus, Inifinitis, and of course Acuras, come in the front door and I will make them look like a Civic, Cobalt and, for an extra fee, a Pinto. Neon lights underneath, license plate holder with a little message board so you can send messages to your peeps, 3 levels of tint (15, 25 and gang banger), I will refuse to fit these whips with anything smaller than 22s, headlights will actually be blue lights not just bluish, I almost forgot...hydraulics, yes, hydraulics that'll make the cars flip over backwards. I will call it the Brokeback Mountain option. A trunk full of batteries to run the sound system (CD, DVD and a turntable). An extra benefit of all the batteries is people will think your new dream ride is a hybrid. Finally, although it goes without saying, a killer exhaust system. I will use a complete stainless system off a diesel pickup, at least 4" diameter. Watch for the announcement soon.

his exhaust is a Vibrant custom exhaust with 2.5 in piping

it's loud as hell when he was at my back or front, as loud as a 4 banger

i love my deep tone of the comptech catback, prefer a dual setup

The single outlet design is for the race inspired enthusiast.

The tone of the exhaust note is similar to the sound of a G35/350Z. I think it sounds pretty cool.

It's also a form of weight reduction.

Notice the single out on that Spoon Sports RL.

Spoon engineered single exhaust system > a hack-job

P.S. I'm talking about ricers.

I would mount a In 1 out 2 muffler where the larger resonator is and run dual piping back to a nice set of tips if i were to do it.

I humbly apologize. That's definitly not ricer. However, I wouldn't do it without filling in the OEM openings in the bumper.
