Potential future mod - bmw pillar lights

just drove a bmw 325 ci and liked how the pillar lights gave the interior a nice lighting especially with tan interior....has anyone done his mod before?...what wood be the easiest way to wire this, and also the most important question is, how much space is there behind the pillar?....i think it looks dope especially with some bright white leds...

piks:

dont think anyone has done this yet, but you can be the pioneer, take off your rooflining and hook it up to the dome light.

I love it. I had an idea after driving my cousin's car but not sure how it'd look.

I like the idea of that light. Don't think anyone's done it yet. But I think that kind of lighting would look bad in LED...

i've always wanted to do this ever since i bought the car. when i was making the decision on what car to buy, i had choice between the TL and mitsu diamante, and the diamante had these (they were called courtesy reading lights and they are push button) another thing i liked about the diamante was the high contrast guage cluster, but all in all i'm glad i got the TL.

this would be real easy to do. that panel pops right off and u can just cut the plasitc (pleather) and fit the bmw lights in. LED wired to the dome light and youre done. ill probably do this when i finish all these gauges for other memebers (if i ever do)

some of you mentioned running LEDs, do you mean swapping out the bulbs in those BMW pillar lights with an LED? or actually putting an LED cluster or whatever in there

Swapping it out.

I would put an LED pad in there instead of a bulb to make it really bright.

pretty much, all i used was a new box cutter to cut the hole from the inside of the panels, and shave till it fits tightly and securely....u wont spend more than $40 which is just the lights unless u decide to buy leds at the same time....bulb sizes are 194 / 168 (2 bulbs in each housing)

Thanx everyone....i might do a quick diy tut sometime next week

if anyone gets to do this mod successfully and gets leds before me, post piks asap! Preferebly white (5000k) nothing more nothing less...i think 6000k leds wood look better with an all black interior, not tan as it makes the leather look washed out or bleached.
