Possible exhaust setup

i searched but to no avail.

Basically, I want a nice loud sounding exhaust but for less than the cost of a full cat back, or even an axle back. I was wondering if anyone had done this or a similar setup.

stock/dynomax resonator, replace mid muffler with magnaflow/borla/flowmaster universal, keep Y pipe but delete both rear mufflers and replace with straight pipe to tips.

i feel like it would be cheaper to do this since you only need to buy one muffler instead of two and i really cant think of any big disadvantages. it probly wont sound raspy because you still have a resonator in there.

basically my question is, is there anything wrong with this setup?

^ yeah i get that. but what is wrong with the setup i suggested? give me specifics. like is it going to limit performance somehow or is it mechanically impossible. something like that.

Replace ALL the pipe if your going to do it. And that setup will be loud.

yeah i meant to say i was just going to replace all the pipe.

this is the only video i was able to find where it looks like the rear mufflers have been deleted. but of course, the sound and picture quality are not good.

haha yeah but 1 will run me even less. we only have a single exhaust anyways. whats the point of 2 mufflers?

mayb kuz when vtec hits more air is passed through the motor...

single for more low end torque

dual for better performace at higher rpms

that is true. but the fact is we dont have a true dual exhuast from the j-pipe back so it shouldnt matter how many mufflers you have...right? and idr if i mentioned it before but i am not deleting the y-pipe

If you don't have rear mufflers your exhaust will DRONE like a shitbox civic with a fartcan.
If you want to do custom talk to Phee. I think he recently did a nice custom setup that sounds great and looks as good.

Basically if you go straight pipes you'll regret it every time you drive your car.

You're telling me that you have no mufflers after the y-pipe and you don't have drone? I have a hard time believing that.

I understand that the resonator and mid muffler will make a difference and that the op is not doing true straight piping from the cat back, but I see having no mufflers past the y-pipe allowing for a really loud exhaust.

Never said it doesnt drone or isnt loud. Every modded/aftermarket exhaust is going to have drone. I have a test pipe headers and no resonator, no mid muffler. Just complete straight pipe. And i fucking love it
