personal opinion dc vs. megan headers

hey guys so i just started this thread basically to maybe discuss reliability of the two, i did some researching and the newest thread was 4 years ago... basically i installed megan headers a year ago, last week the front flex pipe broke, i cut it out and welded in a new flex pipe and there is still a rattle, which doesnt make sense.. so i just ordered some DC ceramics today by reading the earlier threads. any new input?

Got mine installed a few years ago.. Nothing bad to report they work as intended! Bear in Mind, Im not slammed.. So if your driving Coils then the flex might get hurt bad faster in any Header set.

i take it you are using the megans then? because the dc headers do not have the front flex pipe correct? I just installed ksport coilovers about 2 weeks ago, so the whole life of my headers were at stock ride height.. I am not slammed, i have about a finger of clearance in the front and rear.. I just hope the DCs last me... thats why i bought them bc installing the headers frustrate me haha

Nope I have DC Headers but they have a J-Pipe to Cat Flex pipe But not Headers to J-Pipe Flex! Totally forgot about that.

Usually we dont support 2 Flex Pipe design.. They tend to be there for poor quality fitting.

also i found that some say the dc has better flow.. now there is a picture from a thread about how restrictive the megan flexpipe was... which i saw first hand when i cut it out to replace..

Nah it rarely rains here in SD and we dont see much snow either... So basically summers and cold winters. The flaking off is becouse of Heat not much from rust.

Hands down DC is the better header of the 2. Just make sure its not an old 2 flange design.

Just installed the DC headers yesterday... CLEARLY better. the design is better, and it might be a little in car horsepower but I can surely tell the difference.. I will be putting up some pictures of the two.. when I do a picture thread.. getting professional pictures done in the next week cant wait !

P-TownTL35, thanks for posting this thread. I was about to buy the MR headers, but now I'll go with DC.
Just wish I could find them for less than $358.
Pay to play...

If you don't want to get them from a vendor here, try street side auto. They're pretty cheap and they send out $30 off coupons to their email list. (Try code W303013.)

But remember to do as Stephen00TL has advised with the DC headers - check for cracks in the welds by shining a flashlight into the headers while in a dark room. My DC headers had a cracked weld and street side RMA'd them sending me a shipping label. I asked for a full refund (found some Comptech headers in the meantime) and they processed it w/o delay.

I've had my DC Headers for over 6 years (yep, the old 2-flange design Kris) and other than the issues I had finding the right flange gaskets the first month, they've been trouble-free. The finish still looks decent, and no cracks (:knocksonwood I'm not slammed with my H&R Sport springs, but I've scraped a number of times on super-high speed bumps with no broken flex pipe issues.

The only issue with the old 2 flange design was finding the right gaskets to seal them. MANY had issues getting them to seal and stay sealed. Consider yourself lucky.
