Follow the DIY. Most people use Duplicolor Metal-something or another.

Hopefully Volly chimes in to help you out since you can't PM yet.

Follow his directions.

Also don't forget, you need engine paint.

Hey man. I used duplicolor Metalcast Annodized Red.

You need to buy the the basecoat (silver metallic cap) and the actual color paint

Basically these are the step i took (thanks Kris for the pointers!):

Materials: MetalCast GroundCoat, MetalCast Colorcoat, Degreaser, 3M scuff pad, plastic primer, automotive clearcoat.

1. use any degreaser to clean the cover up
2. use a 3M red scuff pad to scuff up the surface
3. clean it up (water would do)
4. use a primer and apply 1-2 coats
5. wait till it dries per the primer's drying instructions
6. apply 2-3 coats of metalcast ground coat
7. wait to dry
8. apply the color coat 3 even coats should be good
9. wait to dry
10. apply a clearcoat (optional)

result:

hope this helps!
Goodluck!
