Well I bought a set of Angel Eyes for a BMW off Ebay. They are 5" in diameter, they fit pretty good I'd say. The color is purple, as that is the theme I'm going for, purple and white. My headlights are 12000K bluish purple, but in the pics the purple from the angel eyes overpowers what comes from the lights, but in person it is a nice light purple-blue. I have LED switchbacks installed, but the passenger bulb only lights up half way..the seller I bought them from is shipping me a new one this week so that will be fixed. I popped out the orange diffuser so the headlights are now clear

I used a big screw driver to start the prying then I pried it open with my hands

Positioning the rings and mounting them discretely with the double sided sticky mounting strips that came with the kit, I shook the crap out of the housing after I mounted them and they didn't come loose, they are pretty tight.


What it looks like after the orange diffuser is popped out and the whole assembly w/rings put back together. I then put it back in the oven for about half the time at the same temp, cause I didn't want to damage anything. I then proceeded to pop back all the clips around the headlight, put back on the little metal clip on the end, and then I took black silicone adhesive sealant and put a bead around the entire assembly to make sure there would be no leaks.


I ran the halo wires through the bottom where the ballast sits, and hooked up the inverter that came with the kit. After this, I bolted the ballast&igniter back up and lined the edge where it meets the headlight with some high quality think electric tape that almost seems to be gooey. This stuff was picked up from home depot and works great, high temp, water resistant, and cushioning. If I have any problems with condensation I'll end up putting some black silicone around it.


Testing it out by hooking it up to a 12V battery



Installed on the car, I spliced into the little 194 bulb wires that is under the blinker bulb that used to have the orange in front of it. So now, when I lock/unlock the car the halos flash, same with if the alarm goes off. I can put the lights to the first notch, and not have the headlights on to light up the angel eyes.





Here's with the headlights on, like I said, the headlights are purple-blue, but you can't tell from the pic. If you notice, my headlights are cleared, but I put a 9 LED amber bulbs in there so it's still legal.


I think the halos are damn bright and look pretty decent. Tell me if you like them, hate them, flame it, whatever. I kinda like them, I think blue or white may look a little better. Want your headlights cleared, halos installed, or both...PM me lol, it was kinda fun.

Nice install.

I like the highbeam halo, but not so much for the lowbeam, because there are no round objects to reinforce the "roundness" in the rectangle reflector housing.

I think it will look wierd during the day when the headlights and halos are off.

I know what you mean, but I in the daytime, it just looks like I have 2 projectors from a distance. I feel like the assembly would look empty with a halo only on the high beam.

Thats true as well, it will look cross-eyed.

Check out my retrofits later on, They will have blue CCFLs in them, they should be done by the next two weeks.

Yeah I know, I just don't have the time or that big of a project now. I'm moving soon. I'm thinking about doing it when I get back to NY sometime, projectors would hold the halos better and look nice too.

how's the light output on the HID's. did they affect the way the HID's shine on the ground at all?

Not that I've noticed yet, The HIDs are a little brighter than stock, they are 12000k so on the road you see a very light purple-blue tint, but I don't mind it. I didn't notice any shady spots because of the angel eyes last night, I'll look for them tonight, and pull up to a wall and take a pic of the light dispersion and cut off points. I'm putting a set of 3000K HIDs in for the high beams so when I get back to NY I can see better through the snow and weather. The stock halogens in the high beams right now are kinda the cheap off-white yellow, but they shoot far as hell out in front...So I'm hoping some yellow HIDs will be crazy bright in the high beams.

Here's a few daytime pics...I already ordered some white bulbs to match the switchbacks. Yeah, it's not legal, but o well, I'll just swap them out before inspections.

i love the install, im afraid the purple looks a little too ricey during the day though, i wouldve stuck with something more white but good work none the less

that's what I think too. The purple is a little ricey, butthe interior lights are all UV and the headlights are 12000k, reverse lights are UV, guages are going to be purple, etc. The scheme was approved by me...My wife likes it lol. At least theres no neons anywhere inside or out hehe.... Or Euros, giant fogs, 4 subs, body kit, wing, etc.
This is the riciest thing i've put on a car since I was 16, I definitely won't be using purple for future angel eyes lol.

I plan on 15000K HIDs for the fogs also, so yeah, purple, purple, purple lol.

i see what you are trying to do by embracing the purple, but maybe you should do 6000k on the headlights and fogs and maybe the purple angel eyes will accent it well instead of all blending together. i dont know, just a thought all of the purple might be overkill... but post pics with whatever you decide to do.

I will...I do have a set of 6500K laying around, they are supposed to be crystal purple, but really, they just look like the switchbacks...white with an oh so slight blueish tint.

Well the angel eyes aren't on during the day, I only run them if its dawn, dusk, or low light like rainy conditions, but otherwise they are on when the headlights are regardless. I sometimes will run them if I'm driving in a parking lot or busy lit up area at night...they are pretty much city lights.

UPDATE: I took the headlights apart again and am painting the housing black, some of it...I did one, and it looks pretty good. I've remounted the halos with clear silicone adhesive and it works and looks tons better that way. The black housing makes the angel eyes appear to be a slightly darker purple than before, but not a whole lot. I replaced the ballasts and ignitors with aftermarket ones that I had already bought and had laying around because the headlights began to act up again and work when they want, and to get them to work at the same time I had to unplug them, turn on, plug back in, then turn on again. It was annoying. I mounted the ballasts in the same spot, but had to use a giant rubber washer and a rubber ring, and silicone it all together to seal up the bottom hole good. It now only has a little hole where the halo wiring and igniter wires come through. I think it's roughly about as effective as stock. Now the headlights work perfect and don't act up at all. I'm in the process of mounting the angel eyes back into the second headlight assembly. I'm in class right now and will finnish up when I get out. Hopefully I'll have pics up of it all when I get home or maybe tomorrow.

PIC UPDATE, here's new pics of some of the headlight housing painted black, and I mounted the angel eyes a little better with clear silicone adhesive, they won't be moving for the life of the car.

yea looks nice 3000k for the high beams are sick you can see everything i cant wait to try them in the snow and see how they look

Yeah, I figured since I sacrificed a little viewing ability with the 12000K's I would put the 3000K's int he high beams to cut through a little better, and plus, there's no little metal cover for the high beams like the lows, so I figured HID's would be pretty damn bright in that housing. The 12000K's aren't bad at all, they are a little brighter than the stock HID's but the color is more tinted so overall light coverage and intensity is more, but light quality on the environment is degraded a little. The fogs are definitely brighter tho, I'm using 80W halogen bulbs in them at the moment and they are much better than the stock...there's no yellow in them at all, they're pretty much just pure white.

and Tay119...I don't know what kit you're talking about. Everything done to the headlights is a product of my sweat and blood lol. If you want me to hook up your headlights PM me and I can give you a quote for what you want done to them.

I would say for a 1st gen, measure the areas where you want to place the angel eyes and see what kind of diameter you're looking to fit, then order a pair of one size for the inner halos and another sized pair for the outer square part. Some of the companies on ebay allow you to specify the diameter when ordering. I just bought a kit for a bmw that I knew were 5" and fit the 2nd gen headlights the best out of all the sizes.

Don't really know, I've only stuck to one brand...Lumenux. I bought them on ebay through the seller autohobbyasia. Decent speed shipping from China. If you're interested in getting a set of 2 different sizes I'd send them a message and after you take your measurements and ask what they can do for you.
