Hey guy. A buddy of mine and I are doing a lot of performance work on his 01 Black Accord EX 4dr 4cyl. I've seen a lot of "Oil Catch Reseviors" and all the website describe what they do, but not in much detail.
Could someone please explain to me in detail, or as much as possible, how these things really work? Like step by step and possible a rough diagram? I know its kind of a lot to ask, but I really cant find anything more detailed than "Protects against sludge being throwin into the intake via backpressure".
I'm directing the modifications on his Accord. IMO we are staying away from junk. Just for public opinion, here is what we have done: AEM V2 intake, NGK Iridium IX plugs, Vision Motorworks Japan 9mm Iridium plug wires, AEM Tru-Power alternator & power-steering underdrive pulleys, Mugen Power reverse-glow gauges, clear lensed - black housing headlights. Next is headers. DC Sports is kind of pricey, so we're thinking Megan Racing SS headers, any objections?
Thanks in advance

DC's are not too pricey, besides the crappy gaskets there is no resonance with mine. Megan headers are a hit and miss kind of thing, some people get the bad set, some the good with no problems. Don't be cheap when it comes to quality.

get the megans and have the short flex pipe welded out on them (you can find this in the search, it's come up a few times). then you will have no resonance and 20hp gains for $300. maybe $340 if you have to buy some header wrap to keep them from touching the subframe. it's much cheaper than comptechs. this is exactly what i did and i couldn't be happier.
as far as the oil catch can goes this is probably the best explanation i can offer you:

they did a good job on there writing it up. is it absolutely necessary? no, but there's no harm in it either. i used to have an SHO and i had modified the PCV system to breath better and reduce sludge intake. i saw a difference in cleanliness over time.

just make it....?? a hollow cylinder, steel wool or something as a baffle to soak in the oil from the air, 2 barbed hose fittings around the top. and you're set!! made a few for turbo'd hondas. but what do WE need them for? do we get that much oil in our intakes? if so...i might go make myself one.
