I don't have a cat on my 240sx...and I get tired of smelling exhaust fumes.

As stated, hi-flow or leave it. I'm not even sure it's worth the extra $$ to buy a hi-flow.

That's not caused be removing your cat...most likely a small exhaust leak

Leave it or Hi-flow. If you remove it you'll have to loop the O2 sensor to not throw a code, and you'll also lose low-end torque because of a loss of back pressure. The gains of removing aren't worth it really. Just my

huh? No cat = no filtration = fumes. I don't have a leak. I mean, yeah, the only time I get them is sitting still (depending on which way the wind is blowing).

huh? 2 of my cars = no cats = no fumes

maybe look a little closer?

i agree it doesnt filter... but the exhaust should still be leaving the rear of the car and not coming up from underneath to where you can smell it..

No, with the cat gone the exhaust does smell and its not from a exhaust leak.

Sorry, but i would have to say then your nose doesnt work. Every car i have taken one off of the exhaust smells stronger, ive been asked if i had a leak with mine off the TL because of the stronger smell.
And what do you think the cat is if you think its not a filter? Its intended job is to convert harmfull exhaust into something not so harmful. Sounds like a filter to me.

i said "i agree, it doesnt filter" because he said without a CAT it DOESNT filter....

i could say the grass was green and youd set out to correct me.. whats the deal?

so let me make this as clear as possible..

im not doubting the FACTS of what cats do.
im saying that without a cat, if you sitting at idle and smell fumes in the cab. you might either have some crazy winds.. or a small exhaust leak.

i've run straight pipes on 2 cars and you can only smell anything when standing behind the car. also rasp is an issue, but if you have an aggressive exhaust it would muffle it out for the most part..

yes, the cat is a filtration system for the exhuast

I'm with rockstar on this... have experience with many cars with cat-deletes and no exhaust fumes in the car.

I guess its a car-to-car thing

Kris....you have grass? I figured you're entire yard would be one giant auto-cross course

The cat is just a "filter" that burn the unburned engine fuel. When you start the car your exhaust smelt like fuel and it have no smell when the cat come in is normal temperature. Some car that have probleme to have a complet combustion can have a air pump that blow air in the cat that help to burn fuel that go in the exhaust.

the catalytic converter catalytically converts things like nitrogen oxide to things that aren't so bad for the environment, its not an afterburner lol

We arent saying because you remove it you will smell it in the car, Of course you shouldnt smell it in the car (like driving). But normally the exhaust is cleaner and you dont smell it, but without the cat wind blowing the right way while sitting still or walking around the car outside you can smell the difference.

Yes i have grass, my yard isnt big enough for the car, though my 4 wheeler and Nitro RC Truck do a # on it
