New guy!

Well I just bought an Acura TL today, 2001 3.5. I already love it, but it definitely needs some modifications. It has a slight crack in the front bumper so I was looking to buy a body kit, don't want a ricey one though. Some of the mods I was looking into, Rims, body kit, replacing some of the stock interior being it is a bit scratched up, maybe adding a touch screen interface where the radio is, speakers, and finally lowering it. If I could get any good suggestions on where to find any of these things, and how hard they would be to install myself, or if I should get some help. I'm glad to join this community with such a beautiful car!

Brad.

Welcome to Acurazine !
Hope ya find everything ya wanna know, it's all here once ya learn how to navigate the "Search" feature, there's a wealth of experience and detailed DIY's.

Are ya absolutely sure that ya have a 3.5 ?????? The 2nd Gen TL's ('99>'03) came from the factory with a 3.2 V-6 motor. Most 'Ziner folks, including myself are not in favor of custom "body kits". They distract too much from the naturally clean flowing lines of our cars. Check out the many pics posted in the forum for photos. You'll see lots of lowered and rimmed TL's to drool over ! Enjoy the site !!!!!

Ah you're right sorry it is a 3.2. I wasn't looking for a like a huge body kit I heard of some Lip Kit's that are pretty awesome. I'm just really undecided as of now. Very impressed with the car so far, and I appreciate you welcoming me!

I found a really nice lip kit online, first I do have to buy that new bumper because of the crack. So happy to fix this baby up.

Hey Brad, used bumpers should be plentiful at most salvage yards. Even the aftermarket plastic skins are not all that expensive. But the OEM is going to be a better quality appearance and fit IMO. Also, you can get any misc. retaining hardware and some other goodies while at the recycling yard, maybe those interior parts !

When pulling the bumper, ya may want to consider updating your HID lighting as it'll all be easily accessible at the time. Complete "OEM" lip kits are the way to go, no doubt about it if you are lucky enough to find one. They are relatively easy
to install, due to being specifically engineered to fit our TL's like a glove......not an exaggerated afterthought bodykit of questionable quality and durability.

But, in all the excitement......don't forget to make sure that all of the basic essentials are accomplished first for improved operational reliability. Prioritize the mechanicals of good PM prior to undertaking the cosmetics. If unsure of the previous maintenance, make yourself a list and give this wishlist to Santa or us to check.

Sorry for the late reply, I've been at a huge go-karting event the past 2 days. But I appreciate everyones welcome, and thank you 3.2, I never thought of going to a salvage yard. I'll definitely look into the nearest one.
