You can also go with an axle back exhaust if your mainly looking for noise and a little performance. If your looking for just performance stick with the headers like jjashaa said it is one of the best things you can do to the car for performance without supercharging or making custom turbo.

This is my car with comptch axle back exhaust.

No, there are virtually zero gains with the axle back. Even with a full catback, the gains aren't very much. Only ATLP was able to squeeze out 10hp, and that was only an increase over the 2" TL-P stock exhaust.

I'd go with headers for performance. If you want sound, get an axleback or custom. Custom exhaust is probably the better choice if you know a good muffler shop.

I never said you were going to gain a lot with an axleback I said a little. I also said that headers were the best way to go for performance as well

I think Tsudo axle backs are around $250 or something. But for $160 you're going to have to buy two universal mufflers and get them welded in.

I would go with tsudo axle backs if you want somethig for cheap. None of the axle backs are 800$ either.
Comptech- 600-650$
Hks dragger-475-500$
Tsudo axleback- 250-300$

These are all axleback exhaust and numbers I found on the Internet real quick. You can also check the black market every once in a while someone will be selling there used one.

if you get tsudos, get the mid muffler delete as well.
a lot of Aziners on here liked it better with both.

It would still pass emissions right?

^ as long as you don't mess with the catalytic converter, you're not affecting emissions.

I do not think it is possible but if you can,You are probably going to have to do some modifications since it is a completely different car. What do you mean you have a 2001 tl but its not a tl p? Did you swap motors?

Also to modify that one to work, it would probably end up costing more than any of the options listed above

the tl-p did not have green wording on it mine is not green the ones that have green lettering are low emission version of the motor... so you probably have a tl-p engine in your car but to stay on topic if you just want noise get the aem short ram intake or any short ram intake for your car, you can hear that thing down the street when you step on it.

then you can worry about exhaust and headers if you want...

Either your car is TL-P or TL-S. There are no alternatives. You have a TL-P.

Not unless you drive it into a lake... but no way it will hurt the engine everyone of my family's car has it on them. Some for over 100000 miles

I constantly go back and forth from CAI to SRI. For the 2 years I've had this, not once have I had an intake related problem. (Car has 163k on it).

Plus, the sound from an SRI compared to CAI is just phenomenal. That's the reason I keep going back to SRI. Also I made my intake for a total of $40 from ebay. Buy pipe, then change the filter the eBay intake comes from, and you're golden. Sure its not cool looking as the name brands such as AEM, Weapon-R, etc., but the principle is the same. Especially if you're wanting to go the cheap route.

I actually wanted the comptech ice box but the sound of the short ram intake was to hard to resist and was only like 120 including shipping. custom intake works as well one of my friends just made one for his 04 tl and it sounds good as well. You willl not have any problems with it trust us and if you don't here is some proff...

A quick question about the mid-pipe, deleting the resonator. If I eliminate the resonator, Will this effect the smog?

It will not have any effect on smog however if you delete both the mid-muffler and the resonator it will be raspy only delete the mid-muffler

Stephen00TL thats a nice sound. Do you have aftermarket intake as well? Also is that spoiler factory? Mine doesn't have one and I'm thinking it totally needs that.

IIRC as long as you don't touch the catalytic converter, you'll be okay.

This is an older vid (I really need to make another) but it was shot in 2010 pre-swap. It had Injen intake and Tsudo Axleback Exhaust minus mid muffler.
