Ok, I dont know the name of it but you know the hose that goes from the valve cover to the intake tube. It basically sucks in hot air from the engine into the intake system. I guess it warms up the the car faster, I dunno, but would it do any good to take it off and add that little filter/breather to the valve cover and plug up the hole on the intake tube. That way there's no hot air being drawn in the intake.

 

Leave it alone, its part of the emission control and the computer requires it.
Gone are the days of the filter on the valve covers- not your dads chevrolet!
