Getting custom Magnaflow cat installed

I am getting a universal Magnaflow high flow cat put in my car. I am goin to use the flanges off of the stock cat to weld onto the new cat...this way i dont have to ruin my headers and exhaust...exhaust shop is doing it for 150 installed

I installed a custom made test pipe yesterday, stainless steel with O2 bung(for check engine problem). Lost a lot in the low end, gain a lot in top end especially punch from 80-120. Rpm's climb up so much quicker, but again its a test pipe not a high flow catalytic converter, so with your setup you should feel less gains in top end, but still lose in low end. Also my tes pipe makes the car sound much louder, not ricey at all, just deeper, louder

i will dyno afterwards...ups has still not delivered it...i think because the north was frozen all last week..when does low end even matter? When i get out of the hole it takes 5 feet to get above 4 grand...all i need is top end power..

low-end DOES matter... unless you neutral drop from 4k rpm, then you get tons of wheel spin and damage the tranny!

the TL is so slow out of the hole it's not even funny..

my exhaust didnt help low-end power and the high flow cat probably wont do any good... but oh well.. i can always catch up with those lil civics over 30mph

if it spins that much you might want to look into better tires....

i find low-end important when passing or something like that... when launching with sticky tires torque at low rpm is important also... we all know the TL is weak under 4k rpm

no he probably has an aftermarket torque converter that makes his car launch at 3k rpm instead of much sooner with the OEM unit... (my guess)

btw this afternoon i ordered a magnaflow 2.25" high-flow cat for my car... i cant wait to put it on!

That's a pretty good deal where ure at. I charge my customer 130 installed with the High Flow Magna Flow with the o2 sensor bung hole.. MAGNA flow are probably the best Cat i've ever stock at my shop. IT helps alot. The great thing about it is that. Not only that the holocomb inside is thinner. you get more air flow and i pressure check it against the other brand its about 30 percent more flow and almost 50 percent against the oem. I highly recommend this cat..

I wonder if installing the aftermarket CAT and WS2 mufflers would improve the response and exhaust tone? I don't want it to be much louder just a deeper tone would be nice. Those G35's have a great sounding exhaust BTW!
