Build is on hold for the time being, got into an accident today and both airbags deployed. Otherwise the car is 100% fine

Don't really want to discuss the details of the accident (yes, I'm at fault), but just thought I'd share as this is going to push the build back

On a side note, I guess this finally gives me an "excuse" to swap in an S2000/DC5 Integra steering wheel and Airbag...

Fuck.

Thanks...I should be alive considering that my car has NO damage whatsoever other than a scuff mark on the bumper. The fact the airbags went off has me pissed. Everyone involved including the officers and tow truck guy said was amazed they fired. I was going less than 5MPH for the record here

regardless it happened and I'm pissed. I can't get the smell out of my nose, and my car reeks. Tomorrow I'll take the airbags out and just drive it how it is.

99-05 S2000 Wheel and Airbag should work correct? 06+ went to dual-stage. Anything else work Honda-wise?

from wat ive researched if you need the single stage any s2k bag will work but if you need a dual stage any rsx bag will work

99-05 S2K is single stage, 06+ is dual. 99-01 TL's have single, 02/03 have dual. RSX is good for the later, I have a '00. arg. Pics tomorrow...

i think ur going to need a new srs modual for the airbags. when i had my accident theirs a couple ppl that repair them (sorta like resetting them) but they said that have had no luck on tl/cl srs moduals. so i have to buy a new one, along with both air bags.

op, do your seat belts work normally? hope they arnt stuck

im really sorry to hear it adam. i got your text but you didnt respond. im glad youre alright. could this be an insurance claim? i mean a 500 dollar deductible is way less than having to fix everything yourself.

contrary to most peoples thinking airbags work off of things more than just speed. Most use decelerometers as the primary device. If his car slowed enough quickly enough it would fire.

so if you have a BBK and slammed the brakes mega hard your airbags could go off?

no. The threshold is higher than braking forces.

I work @ a body shop and we had an Ion come in where the girl had hit her brakes to avoid a squirl, never hit anything but both bags popped.... So I'd say just about anything is possible.

I hit a blazer at 45mph that was in Park in the middle of the road on a mountain turn once. Went under the blazer and jumped it 6 feet into the other lane. Airbags did not go off.
Here's a pic of that accident.

I went 6 feet from a dead stop and they deployed at less than 10 mph. Yes I'll need a new SRS module for the safing sensor (ours cant be repaired). My seatbelts work fine, the pre-tensioners didn't go off. Sorry I haven't posted pictures sooner.

Correcting myself. Just looked at the original thread and it's the CL-P wheels as Rajca said.
