Post Hey guys

I would like to do sum work to make the car just a lil faster. .. I was thinking about lowering it because I think u'll have better handling if ur closer to the flo0r. .lol

I've heard about headers but don't know the full function of what the do.

Also heard about J-pipe OR changing the whole exhaust frum cat back. Is there any real deference between the 2?

Anyway that's as far as my research have gotten, I know a lot of people on here are very knowledgeable about Acura's
I have an 02 TL s-Type and I plan to spin 2 stacks on sum upgrades

Any advise is would be greatly appreciated

headers will give you the most gains. they are less restrictive than stock exhaust manifold. you'll get some gains from exhaust but not much, since our exhaust are already pretty free flow.
you can also get pulleys, cold air intake and new spark plugs if they're ready to be changed out.

How HP works:
1) Air goes in engine.
2) Fire, Fuel and Air collide.
3) Air leaves engine.

How to get more HP:
1)Bring more Air into engine
2)Combust more Air, Fuel and Fire.
3)Get rid of Air faster.

The potential parts that you are interested in satisfy option 3)Get rid of air faster.
Headers(also called exhaust manifold and if your really cool; turbo manifold) is the starting point of where the exhaust leaves. It connects to a downpipe(included in most headers) then a cat/testpipe, then a catback(which is just pipes+mufflers)

For example, if you get headers + catback, you do not qualify as having a full exhaust system as you will have a bottleneck in the cat/testpipe area.

edit: The aftermarket parts will have larger diameter pipe which increases flow.

hmm did you mean you want to spend 2 grand?

headers (includes J-pipe FYI) (used) = 100
exhaust (custom) = 400
drop, coilovers (used) = 550
CAI (used) = 150
IM/TB spacer = 150
Engine Torque Damper = 150

total = 1500

add in anything else you can think of. i would add an OEM lip kit but it costs too much, even used.

have fun in the Black Market.

A noticable difference, probably 15-20.
I doubt anyone put headers on and went straight to the dyno.

it all depends on if that is all u have done... with an exhaust system u could see a noticoble difference but with just headers then not muc at all because the air will be constricted again when it reaches ur stock exhaust setup...
