LOL yes they are expensive!! D2r is the low beam and if you do a search you will find a lot of information on it.
4500k is I think the stock bulb. That is the "brightest" you can get. Once you get into higher wattage the color changes, but the light get a little dimmer. I am getting 6500K because Ive read that you dont loose that much brightness.

Im sure someone can insert a link for you so you dont have to go to the dealer!

the low beams are HID. the fog lights are regular halogen. the only way to match the fog lights to the low beams is to convert the fogs to HID. this will cost you anywhere from $250-$350.

and in my opinion, those blue tinted halogen bulbs are gay as hell.

Compare to HID, even the cool blue is not "blue" enough to match it.

I don't think 9005 will fit into the fog.

wait, what are you looking for?

fromn the post above it seems like you want to change your low beam bulb w/ your new "cool blue" 9006 bulb???????

if you're thinking that, then you can't. our low beams are HID. If you do'nt know what HIDs are think of MB, Lexus, BMWs. we have those "blue" lights. HID are complicated to a new person who doesn't knjow anything about it. i'll give a quick synopsis:

The lights in your car are HID (high intensity discharge headlights). HIDs are not simply bulbs. for instance, i cannot just take out my bulb from my TL and put it in my accord. They are a complete system. You need ignitors, starter, ballasts, wiring harness, etc.. all of which the TL has. HIDs are brighter, uses less energy than regular bulbs. This is why MB, Lexus, BMWs, Acura uses them. they are better than regular light. If you have two cars, do a comparison. PArk and turn on the Lights, you'll see your TL will shine a better and brighter light 1000x. HIDs are a 300-500$ lighting system.

if you want a bluer look, you can buy HIDs with a higher Kelvin, All cars come in 4300k. But yo ucan get 6000k, 8000k, 10000k. The higher the kelvin, the bluer the look. BUT YOU WILL LOSE LIGHT OUTPUT. In my opinion, the best compromise w/ blue and ligh output is 6000k.

now depending on your year TL, your bulbs might be a little old, and not as bright as when it was new.

BUT IT IS STILL BRIGHTER THAN THE BULB YOUR BOUGHT FOR 14$. there is a reason why your low beam bulbs (HID bulbs) are 150$ a piece. They are bright as hell, and bluer than any halogen 14$ bulb. now, what you CAN do what the bulb you bought is put that in your fogs or HIGHBEAM. the bulbs you bought won't fit into your low beam.

first off, the sizes are different d2r vs. 9006
second, they are different bulbs. The ones in your car = HID xenon gas filled bulb. Your 14$ bulb = Regular Halogen (like the ones used in your lamp)

do more research if you're planning to buy your bulbs, don't be a typical person and fall into the ebay trap. They say xenon gass filled bulbs and whatnot, but they are just regular bulbs, tinted bulb, hence their low price.

you can always search this forum for more info, we have plenty of threads already on this subject. Lots of them have pictures to show you the differences in light output and the blue color.

places to get the bulbs, the prices, and etc. so search the forum for more info.

whatwasthat , that was a very very good clear explaination. Thanks alot that help me big time. So i can put them on high beam or fog then. Im guessing highbeam wouldnt make sense with the normal lights "low beam" being white light. I may just put them on my fog lights then.

stupid question? with the 00 acura should the lights have a real dark blue tint like with the higher end cars. My light is a bright white light. I wanted more of a blue intent look for my main low beam head lights. Is it possible that the bulb is going low. What is the buld i have already in my car as far as the low beam lights go? Is it possible to have them changed with the warranties.

The TL has factory HID lighting. They are bright white with a slight blue tint. The only way to get more blue is to lose light, and the replacement D2R bulbs are expensive.

Nah, they're D2R. The only cars I know of that have D2S are those with projector HID.

i wanted to change my 1157s again. i had hyperwhites that are blue when off and now i have light orange that are clear when off. i tried superwhites that are silver when off but they hardly show during the day when blinking. anyway, does any1 here have good suggestions for hyperwhite 1157s? i was searching & only found the same kinds i've tried & LEDs, which i'm not sure if i should use.

Just a quick question, is it possible to just use regular bulbs for the lowbeam if i just dont use the ballast? Doesnt the connector that goes into the ballast fit directly onto a regular bulb? I know it wont look nearly as nice but wouldnt that work If I couldnt afford another ballast?

I don't think so. I think to convert to halogen would take wiring work.
