Headers??

I Tried To Search This But I Coundnt Come Up With Anything To Answer My Question. If I Put On Headers With A Stock Exhaust Is This A Waste Of Money Or Does It Improve The Performance Anyways With Out A Custom Set Up? I Plan On Buying The Dc Sport Headers But I Wanted To Know If I Had To Get A Custom Exhaust As Well. And Has Anyone Found A Set Up On The Exhaust That Has A Low Tone To It. What I Mean Is A Mild Low Tone Close To That Of The G35. Thanks In Advance.

No its not a waste of money and no you don't need a cat back exhaust system since the HP gain is from the headers.

Aftermarket catback exhaust,is really only for sound, looks. You might see like 2-3hp increase(which is nothing)...........You''ll see the most gains with the headers, its hard to say exactly......but I saw execlerate(a vendor) say,30 hp increase on a type -S..........For a "mild" sound, go with the Comptech. This is as close to the g35 as you can find. For myself imho, I am a big fan of the tannabe(louder),if I could go back I would buy this one for sure.

Its ok to just have headers and no exhaust system. If you have the cash get the comptech exhaust system for the extra ponies and the low sound. I like the look of the apex but if you dont have the cash go with magnaflow.

You do not need to do an exhaust to get benefits from the headers. The Type S exhaust is already very free flowing. Either model CL/TL will only gain you a few ponies from upgrading the exhaust.

i would caution you though to not expect more than 20hp increase from whatever you buy. i see very few people on this board reporting 30hp gains in fact i only know 1 in specific who has claimed 30hp on the dyno. i'll go back through the threads and check again.
