Ever done a burnout?

I was hanging out with a few friends, one of whom has a scion XB that he's put some money into speakesr and nonsense...but anyways the kid with the scion asked me if I'd ever done a burnout...I was like No, he's like I did mine its FWD, and I said yes.

He told me he'd done one in his scion, but I had just gotten new tires. I told him I'm not doing that to my car. I'm glad I got new front tires like a month ago, and I take as best care of my car as possible. My quesiton is, doing a burnout...what kinda damage does that do to your car/tires. Burnouts aren't just my thing, unless your in a classic mustang or something like that...Other than that, its just not my style, plus I dont' wanna screw up my car or anything....
He kept asking me and askin me I was just like, "Dude...I'm not doing that to my car..."

It puts stress on the engine, tranny, axles, and wears out tires VERY fast. There is no point in doing a burnout unless your car is "built" to drag race.

Have fun watching everyone else ruin their car, or when you get a rental car try it in that. lol

Just for a pre-race tire warm up. I dont think it should do any tranny damage.

1. Shift down to 1st gear

2. Put E-brake down

3. Turn TCS off

4. Floor it and let off E-brake gradually

Usually works pretty well. Only done it a couple times. If you ever want to do one just make sure you NEVER EVER EVER EVER do a neutral drop. (hopefully thats just common sense)

as long as your not getting any rough sounds. ie wheel hop. then you should only be burning up your tires.

Tranny should be fine, fluid will get hot hehe but that's about it, than again if you have a tranny showing signs of failure I wouldn't advise it

i doubt the fluid would even get that hot. its not like you do 5+ min of burning out. and once you start the burnout there isnt that friction on the tires so its like you are normally driving.

The ATF will be boiling hot after a good burnout. Your basically not going anywhere when doing a burnout, your standing still in 1st gear and at a high RPM, your torque converter is working at 110% load transfering power to the transmission.

I highly doubt it. There is very little friction one spinning and isnt hard to keep them spinning. There is very little stress on the tranny, there by very little heat being built up. Hell Get er started and shift into other gears as well. The more the merrier. Maybe if it were having a hard time keeping them spinning (in which case you would be getting slight traction and dragging the rear tires) but not during a small burn out. Plus fluid burning/heat isnt a issue in our cars and in our cars trans problems.

Definately looks awesome...
does that kill alot of tred on ur tires thoguh, thus shortening the life of em...
I'm on a students budge in highschool here, and just replaced my tires...i'm not really in the mood to pay for new ones in the next year... I'd rather spend that on better mods instaed of replacements...

People with 350 whp scion are not dumb. Never encountered one that was a dumbass. The ones i'm talking about are the ones that are stock or minimally modified and think their just fuckin bad ass.

hey man i love drivin my girls TC, great car, dont hate.
Didn't really make fun of scion cars in general..but i will say that the xB is ugly as hell. Scions are pretty nice cars...yea i will admit..only the tC atleast..but honestly, the only thing I hate about Scions are the drivers.

The xB isi ugly...i'm not gonna lie...
But this dude's into building home theatres...so his car is his main source of advertisement...So it is SWEET...interior that is

He's got TV's speakers tweeters subs...the works, head units u name it...
And it is really awesome I like it...for when ur cruising and wanna go slow, which for me is like 1% of the time.. Thats why i love my TL...when i'm done with it, it'll sound great, (won't be as impressive in the speakers and subs and nonsense) but it'll look sweet from the interior, great from the extior...and on any given day...can own that scion off the line...
I know its a totally different car...but in the end after he's put whatever amount of money into his XB i can put next to nothing in my car and still be faster with out trying...thats my one dislike about xB's...in the end...ur still driving a box/miniature ice cream truck...
