DC, Comptech headers.

Are the comptech headers 700 dollars better than the
DC? Should I just save my scratch and order the DC? 700 goes a long way these days but I am also a firm believer in you get what you pay for as well so I'm kinda stuck on this one.

Comptech is to much money IMO. I would suggest getting dc sport headers even though I got a bad batch. They have been working with me to get it fixed right now. My suggestion would be to check it with a flash light in a dark room when you get it to make sure. the rear header had a hole in it and the front as well even though it was not noticeable till i walked in a dark room. I will post my opinion about the company after the issue is resolved.

Obviously these were made late friday afternoon

Dang you're like the third person w issues with their headers having holes in it. Not a good look. Maybe I'll search out a different company.

Need to say much more? Research and development, although DC for the most part, is a really good brand.

From what I have heard, CT-Engineering has stopped making headers for the 2G TL/CL. They may be still available new in vendor inventory, however. If you can find them used over new that's your best bet to save a buck.

I'd like to only put these on once. Starting to be weary of DC's quality. Have heard lots about failure before and after install. Going to have to research this and maybe some alternates as well.

Me and several family members with different vehicles all had DC and all CARB Legal. For $700, comptech better be.

Of course, this was about 5 years ago lol. Quality could have gone done to cut price to all the cheapos on the market. Do it right the first time, buy quality parts and save all the head aches.

Provided that the O2 sensor is put back in place, I don't see why any particular make of headers that isn't CARB legal.

I'd rather pay more for quality. I don't have time to fix flawed craftsmanship before the part is even installed and really can't afford to take off a failed part.

DC sport is a good company, just some mistakes here and there. right now they are sending me a whole new set. just check them well if you get them. I figured I could still by 3 sets of dc sport headers for the price of 1 comptech

Yea I dunno. That same welder is putting out however many parts a day that are questionable. Not sure of they're hand welded or a robot welder does them but upon searching I find many cases of questionable or not enough weld. What happens under load w heat and vibration??

They cost $310 shipped. Not including any rewelding. Pretty shitty deal, unless you're desperate for a 6 speed header.

I think you can modify a pair of DC headers for that though.

I only paid 99 bucks. Going on 6 years and over 200k and they are still going strong.

The older 2 bolt flange DCs were a pain, the newer 3 bolt ones are better, BUT instal NEEDS to be done correctly (as with all headers for this car) or you will stress them and the possibility for cracking and buzz/vibration will occur.

So basically what I'm gathering from everyone is that most of the performance gains between the different brands will be the same but assembly quality may vary? I work with a few hundred welders so getting them closed up won't be a problem but my concern is failure after install sometime down the road. Would fixed engine mounts help avoid this? I was looking at the Excelerate mounts and considering those as my top pick thus far.
