i have an 03TL-S with a comptech ice-box. While checking to see if how my airfilter was making out i left the top part of the air box off and drove around. Not only does it sound awesome but i can feel better throttle response and can roast the tires from launch. This way still works as a cold air system since the horn is still allowing fresh air into the air box. If anyone has noticed on their filter the only dirty part is by the entrance to the box from the horn. This means the air is mostly entering at that one location. With the top of the box off this allow 360 degrees of intake. The air coming from the bottom helps with cool but the greater amount of air available will help with performance and throttle response. Has anyone tried this? because i love it

 

im sure comptech has tried that idea and ruled it out for some reason. just a guess though

 

i think the gains are mostly in your head. That way baisically makes it a short ram, which isnt as good. especially when sitting in traffic with all the hot engine air and heat soak.

 

rite but i cut out the slot right below the fog light and cut some of the plastic off the bottome of the bumper to act similar to a ram air...so when moving the fresh air will still be forced up the horn into the bottom of the box where the filter will abosorb it

 

then there is no need to pull the top off.
