comptech axlebacks with resonator removed?
Couldn't find the answer in the 2nd gen CL forum cause I don't believe anyone has this specific exhaust set-up...
but I'm looking for a sound clip/description of what comptech axlebacks + a removed resonator (replaced with straight pipe) would sound.
The comptechs have a solid low drone that I like, but would love to see if I could open up the sound a bit more and give it alil' more growl.
I can't justify spending $400+ for a b-pipe that will give me less than 1-2 hp in gains. It does brighten up the tone a little bit I like, but like i said... can't justify the cost.
Anyway, I know what magnaflow axleback without resonator sounds like, I'm just worried that removing the resonator will make the car TOO droney and loud.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Listen to ME!
When I got my Comptech Axle backs installed I had the shop delete the stock resonator and replace it with stainless steel straight pipe. Doing this created way too much of a drone. (Inside and out) Because people were talking about how quiet Comptechs were, I figured taking out the resonator would give me a little more sound. It sounded like a truck. Not good at all. A few days later I ordered a 18" Magnaflow resonator and had it installed within 2 weeks. It sounds 10x better. However, I still don't like the amount of drone.. I have discovered that the exhaust note is MUCH quieter in 65deg weather than 30deg weather. On the highway you can barely hear it until you get on the throttle. (Since the exhaust has been installed, the temperature hasn't gotten above 40, except for one 60deg day)
I have a sound like of idle & rev w/ no resonator, but it was windy and you can't really hear the exhaust that well.
(I am running stock pipes. I fully intended for the shop to install new pipes from the cat back, but they said the OEM pipes on the car were better than what they would replace it with. So I just said eff it. But as soon as this weather warms up I'm going to get some very high quality 2.5" stainless steel custom piping installed...)
